As per the report released by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Indian economy is expected to grow by 6.5 per cent in 2024 as compared to 6.7 percent in 2023. 5. The fourth quarterly (Q-4) report for 2023 of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) states that India’s service exports increased by 11.4% to USD 345 billion in 2023, amid uncertainty in the global economy. 6. The United Nations(UN) agency, International Organization for Migration (IOM) released the report titled “World Migration Report 2024”. The report revealed that India received over USD 111 billion in remittances in 2022. 7. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has released the 3rd edition of its World Wildlife Crime Report titled ‘World Wildlife Crime Report 2024: Trafficking in Protected Species’, which highlights the persistent issue of illegal trafficking in plant and animal wildlife. 8. According to the United Nations (UN) assessment report, “A World of Debt 2024: A Growing Burden to Global Prosperity,” the global public debt (both domestic and external borrowing by governments) has reached USD 97 trillion in 2023, an increase of USD 5.6 trillion compared to 2022. 9. According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)’s 2024 Child Nutrition Report titled “Child Food Poverty: Nutrition Deprivation in Early Childhood”, globally, 1 in 4 children (27%) are living in severe child food poverty in early childhood, this amounts to around 181 million children under 5 years of age. 10.
