If just thinset was used to apply the large slabs to the backerboard with no relieving angle, then those slabs are in danger of collapsing onto the floor at anytime. From what is shown in the video it appears the only thing holding up the weight of the marble are the screws used to attach the backerboard to the wall. Those screws could suddenly fail at anytime because they are not rated to support that much weight. Maybe there is an angle iron holding the large slabs up that was not shown in the video. Maybe there were some wire ties attaching the slabs at the sides to the studs behind the backerboard, but again the video does not show this.

I have a question. I am purchasing a new home. The installer of the countertop cut the quartz countertop literally in half and glued it back together for whatever reason. Is this normal? The seam where the two areas were glued together can be clearly seen. The steps that the installer took is like cutting a ceramic plate in half and gluing it. The line never disappears and cannot buff out.

Why is backsplash 1 1/4”? Cant’t you make 3/4” like it is supposed to be? I know other fabricators who take that extra step and do it.

That much unsupported cantilever, even though allowed by the manufacturer, will sag over time and when it does, the outboard ends of the miters must self-destruct.
@philipsainsbury35252 жыл бұрын
What u talking about the mitre holds the joint , the load bearing is mostly over the carcasses over 50% of the split load , the cantilever is self supported

That's a great question the reason it is not lined up is because the client was not willing to pay for another slab to align the slabs and match it up.
