What did you dip your large billet into before putting it in the forge? I've never seen a dip before the forge.

Parks 50 quench oil! It helps protect the weld in the same way as kerosene. The oil turns into a layer of soot and keeps oxygen from getting in and potentially adding carbon as well.

Hey jesse one tip for your welding would be use your other hand to contact the material and use it as an anchor. Your hands will be more stable that way.

I would if I had the time! I’m on a pretty tight schedule right now and only have time for video builds and commissions. I think I’ll have time for one offs later next year but I can’t be sure.

Never done welding, the closest I have come to "something similar" is soldering and yeah it's insanely difficult. People on KZread with experience do make it seem effortless...

title could be interpreted both ways lol. if you switch the usage of 'for' in the title: "I made a $100 table for $1000." As in someone commissioned you $1000 to do it, but the value of the table was $100. "I made a $100 table for $1000." As in you spent $1000 on this table and it's worth $100.
