Thank you! I always waited for it.
You're welcome! It was a blast doing this one. Love the story!
RATS IN THE WALLS!!! My absolute favorite Lovecraft story! As usual, fantastic presentation on all levels my friend. The image of that bird thing screaming at about 58:00 is pure nightmare fuel! LOL. WOLD YE SWYNK WYS!!!! UNGLI! UNGLI!
Really had a lot of fun with that gibberish that Delapore starts spouting in the finale :p And it truly is an all-time classic of Lovecraft's.
Brilliant. Thanks for this.
Glad you enjoyed it! The story is just such a fun read
Wonderful tale.
@@daleanderson1727 Glad you liked it!
The voice for the audio is really nice.
Thank you! I try my best!
Nicely done! Great voicing, the voice of Tessie adds a lot. FANTASTIC imagery as usual, the one with the lizard is so lush, and is my favorite. All the pics of him painting are exceptional as well! Keep'em coming!
I felt that the prominent female protagonist could do with an actual woman voicing her. And since I have one of those living with me... XD Yeah, the opening image is just an amalgamation of everything that's described in that first paragraph, and I feel it's been brought together perfectly! I mean, I really love this story as a whole. It's a good story, great scenes and the visuals for it turned out great. Easily my favorite of the King in Yellow stories so far.
57min 14sec…
Something wrong at that point in the story?
I like to listen to these at night. Thank you for making these (: i hope the music/theme SFX doesnt get out of hand. You do it the way you like, though. I prefer the sound of your voice, though, over the music. The absence of music adds weight to the spoken words i feel.
Thanks for the feedback! It's an ongoing struggle to balance the volume of my voice against the volume of the music. I'll try to keep the music on the low end as much as possible!
Wow what a blast! 🥶
Glad you liked it!
Just started listening, your channel popped up in my recommended this afternoon. Amazing voice, thank you for the narration!
Happy to hear you stumbled onto my little corner of the internet and like what you see/hear ^^ Enjoy the stories!
Great Dutch or danish accent- while it was written by a Texan - your narration suits it perfectly ❤👍
Thank you! I do my best ^^
Very good lively reading as usual
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Little 'Thul makes me so happy ❤
Excellent oration , subscribed. 10/10
Glad you liked it! Thank you!
Excellent collaboration! Well done! 🐉⚔️
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! Really happy to have gotten the chance to work with Joe from The Dusty Tome!
@@MiniatureMythos he is an all around talent! Glad he is a part of my shenanigans as well! 🤪
Modern day title: Conan Nopes a God
Also, the fact that he didn't know it was a god, but just some dude behind a folding screen...
One of my favorite Conan stories, great work!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
Aww, blushing from that kind intro!! I had so much fun being part of this one, thanks for having me! This was a really fun story, and the final is fantastic, awesome work my friend! 🤓👍
Anytime, man! It's a blast working together with you on these projects! You did a lot of the heavy lifting in this one, as it's arguably Demetrio who pushes the story forward, and not Conan :D
Is an awsome tale a real favourite conan story. Like your readings thnks
I thought i had the complete works of Howard Conan stories in one book but this one and the one with the giant slug are not in it.
Yeah, it comes down to copyright and canon chronology mostly. Each collection of Conan stories makes a selection based on the perceived Canon that they want to tell and are able to receive rights for to publish. Some stories are easier to determine as canon, and will be featured in every Conan canon, and others are dropped from time to time. The story with the giant slug was only written as a two-page summary by Howard himself, and was written out further by L. Sprague De Camp, so that's why it's usually not considered true Conan canon. This one is often seen as kind of the same, since it was never published during Howard's life, because it had been rejected a couple of times for not being 'Conan' enough. After Howard's death, Sprague De Camp did some minor editing, and that edited version has been passed down ever since... So that might be the reason they're not featured in your 'Howard's Conan' collection. Since, strictly speaking, they're written by Sprague De Camp.
slug = the hall of the dead
Great narrator sounds a bit like Arnold
Thanks for the kind words! I tried to give Conan a bit of a stoic voice without sounding like Arnold, but I guess his influence on the character is just too strong ^^
Why you didn't record The Rats in the Walls?
I simply haven't gotten around to it yet :) It's definitely on the to-read list, but if you want, I can bump it up on the schedule and release it sooner?
That would be really great. Lovecraftian stories are one of the most listened audiobooks on your channel, so probably this idea would be interesting for you as well
@@MiniatureMythos Btw why you use Belgium as your country, you obviously have kind of American accent(I don't really know much about anglosphere accents)
Well, because I'm born and raised in Belgium, and I still live here :) As for my accent, I've gotten many remarks about it over the last year. Some saying it sounds American, English, Scottish, 'Teutonic', exotic, undefined, 'special', ... I think it's just hard to pin down ;)
Definitely! Lovecraft's stories are still my big passion and the reason why I started reading the audiobooks, so he won't be forgotten! I think you can look forward to 'The Rats in the Walls' being released on August 4th ^^
Did you do all the voices? that's a great range!
I wish I had that kind of range! I've had some help from friends to help me voice the different soldiers at the beginning of the story ^^
cheers, mate
Thanks!
I get the feeling Poe didn't like chess very much...
It does feel like the first part of this story is basically: "It doesn't mean you're smart when you're good at chess! REAL smart people play... er... Draughts! Or Whist! Like I do!"
Have liked. Will listen later...have sent you an email.
This dudes voice is kinda cool 🆒😎, he almost sounds like the Scottish professional wrestler Drew McIntyre
American History forgot about Robert E.Howard but God bless you, God bless you (👇🏼) and God bless all the subscribers too 🙏🏼 for bringing him back 🔙
Thank you for your heartfelt blessings. Blessings to you as well! In the spirit of Conan, Crom gave us the strength to shape our legacies. Thank you for helping keep Robert E. Howard's legacy alive!
I like this story but i always wondered if the rope was made of hemp why didn't they just cut it?
Good question... I assume it's because those holding the rope couldn't take their hands off it to grab a knife or axe, and the other bystanders were all too scared or stunned to grab something? Maybe there was just nothing around to cut with? Or maybe it was just convenient for the story?
Loved this story as a teen in high school in the 80s, thanks for doing a Conan pastiche by L Sprague de Camp and Lin Carter.. Hard to find any of the pastiche stories as audiobooks on KZread. City of Skulls would be awesome. I loved Juma the Kushite as a character.
Indeed, some of the pastiches are really good! However, since they've been written/published after Howard's death, copyright is still often an issue, and I think that's the reason why they're not adapted into audiobooks that often. I'll take a look at The City of Skulls to see what the copyright status is, and if it's possible, I'll put it in the line-up :)
Hooray
Thanks
Again, thank you so much for the support! I'm really lucky to have you as a fan of the channel!
I've got a swelling mound for this
A slug that size, with 100 pounds of butter, 50 pounds of garlic and 15 pounds of salt, could have fed a typical Hyborean village for months. Cook it first.
That slug "could" have fed them for months, but when you added those 15 pounds of salt...
EXCELLENT JOB great story
AI art?
Yes, I generate the art with AI. Often I do change stuff in there with Photoshop to better fit the scene, but the basis is always an AI image.
@@MiniatureMythos sorry but I can't abide AI. Shame, there's decades of real Conan art.
That's fine. You are entitled to that opinion and I respect you telling me that. There is in fact a lot of Conan art around, that much is true. Some of them are truly epic. But, even if it's decades old, someone did put work in it and owns the art. The reason I don't want to use existing art is two-fold: first, it would be a huge added workload to figure out the correct copyright status for that art, and to track down the copyright holder (if they're still around) to get approval to use the art. Second, as a small channel, this doesn't generate me any income just yet, so I can't buy a license to use copyrighted art. Since this is a hobby project besides my full-time job, going to AI seemed like a logical step to support the creation of these videos. It's true, those reasons don't give me a "need" to use AI, since I also fully believe no one "needs" to use AI, but I've made the decision to use it nonetheless. My reasoning being that I'm already using my own voice, licensed music that I bought and read actual published stories. Since these make up the core to my narrations, I feel the art is rather something to prevent you from looking at a blank screen for the duration of the stories :) And I'm fully planning to actually start commissioning artists once this channel's revenue makes it possible. If you'd like versions of my stories where no AI was involved, you can also find me on Spotify. That's just the audio and music of the audiobooks. If not, then no harm done, and I'm glad you did visit the channel, even if you decide that the format is not for you :)
I meant also to give you credit for doing your own reading. Really a terrific job and your accent makes it even better. Well done!
Thank you, I really appreciate it!
Fifty Foot Slug..... Great old punk band.
