Thank you for sending me to your site in Port Hope. How interesting he fought in the Civil War, then had the good sense to live in Canada! 🙂

Thank you for watching, yes the flag poles are a nice touch. We have 51 V.C's buried on Canadian soil and thus far I have visited 25 of them, I place a small flag on each one. I've also visited 1 of 7 US Medal of Honor recipients buried on Canadian soil, Edward Dodds. Mr. Dodds received a flag as well. I have the highest respect for the US military as well....ive attached the video of Medal of Honor recipient Edward Dodds if you want to watch it...kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZmRkrZdyhd23edY.htmlsi=KE0qwj52kWSiaQlQ

@Deweyroams24444 Thank you, I will look into that. Also, I bet there are many brave, young Canadians buried in Normandy...

US here, it's great to see the grave sites of our neighbor's war heroes. How wonderful to see flagpoles to honor Canada's brave men. Kind of wish we had these in the US... Thank you!

It would have been nice to have a close up of the stone so we could see what was there.

The cannons were fired at a German U-boat, they were not successful as the U-boat fired torpedoes sinking 4 ore carriers anchored off of bell island. One German torpedo actually struck the Dominion pier destroying the pier, the remnants of that pier can still be seen today.

Actually the gun was spinning and struck someone in the head and killed them. After that they were welded in place so they cannot move anymore. I am from Bell Island.
