I feel very honored to have Alvaro Gomez as my viola teacher. The most gorgeous man I’ve very met! A few lessons have made a big difference in my playing technique. My brain still can’t process the fact he is famous.

Thank you for comparing and contrasting the styles of Mozart and Brahms. I now have a better understanding of what a requiem is.

I am an atheist who finds this song especially moving, All humans, whatever their beliefs, yearn for us all to live in peace, for us all to live harmoniously together. A beautiful rendition of a song I have long loved.

Ladies. it is a nice explanation but I am sorry to say: there is an intonation problem between the two of you and you are not always playing well together. (sound balance and the holding the proper length of the notes) Mind you the basset clarinet is not lower pitched but it has more keys which extends the range of the instrument. On The German basset horn it is easier to play more in tune.. Did you notice the parallel 4ths and 5ths in some passages ?

Maybe, a little bit the air column, but the fourths it's problem of Sussmayr, fight you with him 😂

Richard Einhorn actually recorded the bells from Joan of Arc's church in her village of Domremy-la-Pucelle. Joan would have heard these very same bells growing up. Very haunting sound. You will hear these bells throughout the score at various points. This score truly captures the majesty of the Passion of Joan of Arc in all her glory. "Jeanne [Joan of Arc] has shone like a new star destined to be the glory of not only France but of the Universal Church as well." -- Pope Saint Pius X, 1909 A.D.

Thank you so much for a lovely presentation. It is lovely to hear that sound. I’m sorry to say but the clarinet version doesn’t sound so good. It is only used because it is the most available instrument. I remember going once to play at a concert and they provided the wrong parts it’s not a very nice transposition it would be great if you could find another player and do some of the Trios. Wishing you all the best and your exploration of this beautiful instrument. - God bless you both - Bill - UK

Well first of all like some of you commented they say basset clarinet, what is totally different from the Basset Horn. Also she says when possible play it on the right instrument. Use the original basset horn if you want to play it the way it was intended.

Oh, I get chills every time I here this music !! I first heard just a part of it once, with the viola da gamba, on a college radio station in 1995 or so..almost wore my cd out, and bought many gor friends !! Fast-forward to 2010...totally by accident saw that the Berkshire Choral Fest was going to perform it, so I applied and got in !!! Studied the music for months (at least I was very familiar w/it already !!♡) Drove from Oceanside, CA to Vancouver, BC, and got to sing the entire piece, in the Chorus, but Anonymous4 were all there, too !!! Such a big dream come true !!!! Truly, the high point of my musical life...even though I'm just a Gr'MaChourGeek, and have since sung twice in NYC w/Eric Whitacre at Carnegie Hall !! Voices of Light is still my favorite !!! The LA Master Chorale also performed it about 3yrs ago...saw Einhorn from a distance, but never got to meet him or get an autograph. I had all 4 "Angels" of Anon4 sign my cd !!♡♡♡ Thanks for sharing this, as I never tire of hearing it, or telling people about it !! ♡♡
