Life of Leisure, Causers of This, Psychic Chasms... three pretty great albums in an otherwise dull and marginal genre. They remind me of the times when I would listen to the local college station (KTCU 88.7) and deliver pizza all night, usually stoned.

I came across this album in my early 20's and at that moment of my life I felt it aligned so perfectly. I am now 30 year's old and the feelings/memories that this album brings back to me is incredible.. I created a lot of art from this album..I felt so deeply from this album..it still brings me peace. I am married now with a 3 year old, but love to put this on while im cleaning as a reminder to myself that I used to be a little wild, and because it just makes me feel good..enjoy the things that make you feel happy is all I have to say 😊

"Two years ago I played at Studio 9 in Vilnius, Lithuania," says Vynehall. "The following day I missed my flight home and ended up spending an extra day, which gave me a chance to explore the city with my friend Linus, who took me to the Contemporary Art Centre. It was there I spotted a book named Rojus, that Linus told me translated as 'Paradise.' The word and striking cover of the book stuck in my mind." He adds: "A few days after returning home, I turned on to a National Geographic documentary named Designed To Dance, explaining the courtship rituals of birds of paradise. As I watched, I jokingly began drawing similarities between these birds' attempts to captivate and impress the opposite sex with dance, and the way strangers try to attract one another in clubs and interact on the dance floor. This gave me the idea of creating a record of functional club music, sequenced as if it were a club night, from doors to closing, using samples of these birds of paradise and their habitat. Thus, Rojus." ra.co/news/33299

Even though it’s only an EP, this album is my favorite of all time. It got me through one of the hardest times in my life by providing a sense of comfort and motivation. Every time I listen, I forget about whatever’s going on in my life and is taken on a journey of self growth. Each time, it always feels the same: dreamy, softly comforting, but uplifting and motivating. I have nostalgia from Portlandia and growing up in Texas of Sunday afternoons strolling downtown after church, as well as memories of sitting near beaches while listening to this EP. It’s the right mix of comfortable nostalgia and an inspired futuristic vibe. I could go on forever describing what Life of Leisure means to me and what I feel every time I listen to it, but saying all these things simply couldn’t do it Justice. Washed Out is simply amazing, and crafted a beautiful masterpiece and the best seventeen minutes of my life.
