Before he left for good, I honestly expected him to review Gleipnir or Rokka for his next review. I kinda watched Shadowacs video periodically (I used to be a very regular watcher of Tickets to Damnation). I'm surprised that he did disappear as he is one of the last Anime Review KZreadrs that actually reviews the anime instead of Podcasts or overly long retrospectives. It's a slowly dying niche that needs to return.

Why am I suddenly thinking about the movie “After” with Florence Pue and Harry Stiles instead of the hentai you were talking about? This is the second time I’m seeing the title of the video and I can’t not think about Hardin and Tessa’s awful relationship.

Akito the exiled is a masterpiece, best side story to anything I have seen and the fact it inspired the entire story, plot, characters, etc of 86 and it blew up shows its impact.

13:18 Not understanding charles grand plan is fine, the story wanted to be complex because it is and very much deep dive into philosophy of nondualism and metaphysical nature of reality similar only to instrumentality from evangelion. Charles wanted a world where which everyone sentient mind was forged together thus ending conflict and misunderstandings via universal consciousness. 13:34 again the confusion about Cs world or the collective unconsciousness is fine, its supposed to be symbolic dive into Jungian and Freudian Psychological theories of the mind etc.

The Vinland Saga manga dropped 4 years before Attack on Titan. So if anything, Eren is probably a rip-off of Thorfinn.

I had so much trouble with the main characters at first but I had to make it my own backstories to love this show. But the rest of it is amazing. Pretty much more like episode five or six on. It's my favorite show. Interestingly enough clannad and Fullmetal alchemist are also up there though I do like brotherhood a little better. Agree on most of the villains save the first. I always felt with the first king it was a fall Arc that set up what it was going to be like for Yoko. He let his own fears of being outshone cause his own downfall. He never believed the prejudice. They were just his excuse.

Honestly, the question for a hentai should be: is this hot? And since this is fiction, it's okay for it to be messed up and oush boundaries. It's fair if you didn't like it but a lot of people do enjoy fiction to push boundaries specifically because it isn't real. Just because it's uncomfortable to you also doesn't mean the creators are crazy. To say that is purposefully obtuse and extremely rude.

I think the reason they wait for couples to get together at the end of shows because it's easier to write. The lead up to them getting together is easier to make interesting than a relationship.

Unfortunately, I have already seen the Hentai, before I even saw your review, when I was so attracted by the coverart of it that I found on Google somewhere, and then ultimately became shocked, disgusted and traumatized about it the same way I was with the 2006 FIFA World Cup and the banning of Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni in my country. I really wonder as to why it is even part of the so-called Vanilla Series to begin with, when it is anything BUT! I was so deceived by the label it is plastered with. The hentai is literally Shaq Fu, in which I will swear to find every single copy of it and destroy it with my own state of rage, trauma and anxiety! #destroymilkmoney

Technically demons DO exist in Greek mythology. The main difference is that “demon” itself is also Greek, which means “spirit” essentially. And there are other lesser known entities that are referred to as “demons” of other aspects of existence. Like Kratos is the demon of strength. Admittedly the word is spelled “daimon” moreso.

You clearly was not in right space of mind for this anime. Yes nothing basically happens but the small things like haseo going mad because a crush and hunting a “glitch” is kinda cool imo. I love this anime and I think this genre is really niche and probably not what you enjoy watching and that’s okay, but don’t tell people to not watch something when you actually don’t know if they would enjoy this or not. I know this vid is old but just saw it now, I actually never knew this was a prequel to a game. Might try it😅

The flashback was in the manga. Gowther flashback was also in the manga but as a sidestory. And yes the curse was also in the manga. Near as I can tell the anime mostly follows the manga.

13:18 Partially. Though, really it was because they made Hei a drunk child abusing hobo, killed off Mao and made him a babysitter in chipmunk form, destroyed the back and forth between Hei and Mao, and idr everything else, but basically s2 destroyed everything amazing about s1. I actually didn’t mind s2. I just wish it wasn’t s2 of Darker Than Black. That’s what broke my heart! If it was it’s own story completely unrelated to the franchise and characters, it’d be fine. I’ve heard other fans express the same. The real issue is Gemini is s2 to DtB.

6:54 I always saw this part of the series as intended. You’re meant to recognize the contractors in the series do not match what people in the series say contractors are like. This goes for the dolls, too. They all show human sides viewers are led to believe early on shouldn’t be possible if information about these beings in the story is true. I loved the world of the series. I’m not sure if I’d want the series to be cyberpunk. That’s not what the series is. Though, perhaps, if you want cyberpunk, you should pick up a cyberpunk series. Maybe you should pick up that Edgerunners show I keep hearing about. Even if I disagree with you, I’m glad you’re making videos again. I love to see it!

This is the worst analysis possible for such a good show. DTB has some of the most intriguing characters in anime, with a very particular double-faceted protagonist which I've seen in very few shows (such as Lelouch from Code Geass or Kira from Death Note); with a very original plot that would've had so much potential as to what could come next if the show was continued; amazing OVAs; fantastic playlist; and incredibly well-developed episodes that contained just the right amount of main plot combined with different little stories to make each feel fresh, new and interesting. I feel that what many people fail to appreciate in DTB is the display of power and agility in characters, because we're so used to seeing these big fights with incredibly super-human abilities, where many powers are centered in each character. A bunch of people with special abilities that need to eat paper to pay for them is nothing compared to a Shinigami like Ichigo or a legendary ninja like Naruto, but when you make things so big, nothing can surprise you anymore. Dragon Ball, for example, has really entertaining episodes at first, with characters training hard and truly struggling to win a fight. They have you gripping the edge of your seat. But then? It becomes bigger, and bigger, and bigger, to the point that death is inconsequential, distance is inconsequential, even time itself is inconsequential; you just know they're gonna win in the end. Smaller stories with smaller characters have so much more potential to develop, surprise you and leave an impression, without stopping to be super-human. Another thing which you've mentioned yet then completely threw out the window, is thay this show has to be considered compared to other shows within the time it was published, and not to stuff that didn't even exist until very recent years with a entirely different approach to plot, animation and dialogue. Idk. Tastes are tastes, but an analysis should look depeer than just what you liked or didn't like (ahem like the cursed second season),and especially if you're dropping mistaken facts about the show as mentioned by many comments below...

6:57 That’s the point… I watched it as if contractors were in denial of emotions or were emotionally underdeveloped. It makes a lot more sense to me since the relation between Yin and Hei seemed to make her “evolve” despite it making her more human
