Shame they never got the credit they deserved
There's a recent CD & LP anthology that should get them reappraised - a great review in Vive Le Rock.. Also their BBC Peel Sessions are out on vinyl; later there'll be a CD Box set.
Let’s hope so I wonder if you get all back together even for a one off gif in oxford
Nobody played like John and John didn’t play like anyone else.
Un peu les fantômes du Gun club..non?
Everyone is influenced by others, but the Nephiim developed their own style.
So! What happened to guitarist Steve green anyone know?!!
Still around!
@@junglerecords that’s good to know does he still Play
@@ianheath4332 I think people in the Facebook group 'Play Dead Appreciation Society' have posted about/met him, and will know more than us.
@@junglerecords he use play with my brothers band before play dead In oxford called ballistic use to rehearse in the catacombs oxford if anyone rembers
@@ianheath4332 Great! Btw, the nice white guitar he played (was it a Gretch?), he later sold to local band Radiohead, who used it for years. And who in recent years put it up for sale, for a charity I think. Don't think it went to a Play Dead fan though!
7:28 “Well Johnny, we all make our own Frankensteins and there’s yours.”
I met Jerry and Johnny when they lived in Stockholm, Sweden. Healthwise, they were pretty ok back then, thanks to the methadone program they were on. Jammed with Johnny several times and he was a sweetheart. It was unreal for me, a young drummer who grew up on Iggy & The Stooges, New York Dolls and Ramones, playing New York Dolls and The Heartbreakers classics with the man, the myth, the legend. Clem Burke is such a class act, the way he speaks about The Heartbreakers...
What's with Bob Dylan reading a budget Wikipedia?
He played some excellent music on his Themetime Radio shows, and no doubt got assistance from radio producers. So it was probably they who gave him a little background info on each artist.
The brought Nancy with them and the rest is history unfortunately
I don't believe Jerry brought Nancy to London; she heard about the scene in London and followed the Heartbreakers over. Almost to the point of stalking Jerry from some accounts. Then she wanted to bag herself a Pistol; Johnny wouldn't play so she chose Sid instead.
I sang in our school play of The Threppeny Opera ! So I share a song with King Kurt !!
These guys, Alien Sex Fiend, Christian Death, 45 Grave and a host of others at the time were monumental in my high school years. For those that missed it, start with; Alien Sex Fiend; RIP (Blue Crumb Truck), Christian Death: Romeo’s Distress or Dogs or Deathwish, and Partytime by 45 Grave,
Outstanding song & video ! NFD rule the GothRock world !!!
Jerry helluva of damn good well trained drummer by Krupa no less...great asset...he was dead on about the democracy of the band...miss him on air
thanks for this one. LUV.
Voodoo club Toronto 1980s after hours hit, LOL!
I haven't seen a video with Sky Saxon since the 1960's. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome! Don't miss the 30-minute documentary from that time, with Sky in the studio, wandering around Camden and telling everyone of his philosophy on life.
I was at the Marquee that night. Damned & distonic rock’n’roll comin up from the Tube station in Charing Cross 2@@
Legend🤘
He was an unforgettable drummer. An absolute animal with stage presence to spare. Watch any of the Heartbreakers footage from The Punk Movie - what an animal!
Carl has improved with age vocally
Clem, you’re a great drummer! Saw Blondie and Rockpile in Sacramento at Memorial Auditorium. Good show!
The lad is still lucid
Iggy increíble década tras década y único en su especie. ❤
Los new York Dolls fueron la raíz, pero los Heathbreaker lo desarrollarón: Allí comenzó todo, ya eran "Punck Rock".
One of the most underestimated bands of the 80s
Killer interview thanks .
Ca. von 1.55 bis 2.04 Minuten 🙅 aber sonst 🎇
Jerry Nolan always came across to me like he'd come straight out of a Scorsese movie. Just an effortless cool about him and a very interesting man to listen to. One of the finest rock 'n' roll drummers that ever was, no doubt about it.
how the hell did they survive after thus gig...or even during it
Jerry was a great storyteller
If one gets a eulogy from Iggy Pop, and it's a good one, you know they were somebody special.
Bolan & Bowie. The world would Suck without them. We Love You Marc & David. :)
Did you know these guys were in the audience at Woodstock? 😂
Altamont?
Jerry Nolan and Nickey Barclay looked like identical twins.
says more about the inaduacy es of holland

The man that started the flower power movement. Still influencing musicians today.
What a GREAT R’n’R drummer,such a real inspiration,such a teacher. Thankx Jerry,you will remain a phenomenal musician in R’n’R history
Met Sean a couple of times when I started working at Kensington Market. A lovely guy. Wild, intense and gentle like a good Heathen should be. A little scary if you couldnt see though the Matrix. And then he disappeared, I guess that's when he perished. Astral Joe is in a bit of all of us some more than others. RIP Sean.
Thanks for the memory. He moved to Ireland where he lived for some while before he died.
cokeMODE😅💦
Lyrics?
If you've not listened to New York Doll's have a noze, fukkin amazin and John Thunder's n the Heartbreakers 👏👍🏴☠️👏👍🏴☠️
I do not believe that is Bob Dylan's voice. It is too silly. It sounds like an impersonator. It is!!! Also, Dylan WOULD NOT discuss either J Thunders or the N.Y Dolls. He just wouldn't.
Sorry to disillusion you - it is Bob! Search on KZread or Google for 'Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio', and you'll find all the episodes, including the one this was taken from.
Dylan has said in interviews that he wished he wrote you can’t put your arms around a memory
Best band ever!
I can test that cocaine from here
Masterpiece!❤❤❤❤
I love both Walter and John
Wel I can't add everything other than brilliance
i think jesus and mary chain may have liked this band
You're surely right!
