Sam Mooney

Sam Mooney

In his young career, pop/soul artist Sam Mooney has already reached #1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Chart, toured across the United States, won one of the country’s largest talent competitions, and shared the stage with many of his musical heroes. The Mississippi native’s piano-driven sound has earned commercial success and critical acclaim, drawing comparisons to artists such as John Mayer, Ben Rector, and early Maroon 5. Mooney has opened large concerts for a growing list of major artists including Judah & The Lion, COIN, The Band CAMINO, American Authors, Jordy Searcy, Stephen Day, The Brook & The Bluff and Kings Kaleidoscope.

Sam is based in Nashville where he is recording his next batch of new music. In addition to his solo career, Sam is an in-demand session keyboardist, and his playing can be heard on many albums from other artists. Sam recently announced a duo project with his wife, musician Polly Mooney. The duo's debut album is in production and is expected in 2023.

    got it off Facebook marketplace for $200! Looked at some free ones first, but this one was in better shape and much prettier than those, so I'd say it's been worth the investment! Felt like a great deal overall. Although I was amazed how awesome some of the free ones were, too!

    Great song! Really resonates with life, faith and spirituality. Could you please share the chords I really want to cover this song :) thanks!

  • @sammooneymusic
    @sammooneymusic4 жыл бұрын

    Hey Flo! Thanks so much for the kind words. Yes, I'd be happy to share the chords! I'll write the most straightforward version of the chords first, and then below that I'll write them again with some additional variations in parenthesis that you can use to add some flourishes and flavor to the song if you wanna go the extra mile. Intro: Am, G, F, C (x2) Verses: Am, F, C, G (x4) (The G here is played very quickly at the end of each verse line, it's not held for as long as the other three chords, as you can hear in the recording) Pre-Choruses: Dm, Am, Fmaj7, E/G# Choruses: Am, G, F, C (x4) Bridge: G, Am7, F (x3) D7, F, G Outro: Am, G, F, C (x2) If you wanna add more flavor to the chords, I add in some of these chords variations at times to make them a little more interesting throughout the song! Sometimes the note in parenthesis is used almost as a grace note before returning to the normal version of the chord, also. I think a mix of playing the chords normal, and then sometimes adding these flourishes in parenthesis sounds really nice, so that's what I did. But there's no wrong way to play it. Your call! :) Intro: Am, G(6), F(6), C Am, G, F(2) C Verses: Am, F, C, G (x4) (Again, the G at the end of each verse line is very quick, as you hear on the studio version) Pre-Choruses: Dm7, Am7, Fmaj7, E7/G# Choruses: Am, G(6), F(6), C Am, G, F(2) C Am, G(6), F(6), C Am, G, F(2) C Bridge: G, Am7, Fmaj7 (x3) D7, F(2), G Outro: Am, G(6), F(6), C Am, G, F(2) C I hope this is helpful! Thanks for wanting to cover my song! If you upload a cover, feel free to post a link to it in these comments so we can all check it out :) Would love to see it!
