“The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth” Waylon never deserved a life like this. He was different and that difference couldn’t be hidden so instead he was beaten, bullied, ostracised and demeaned throughout his life. Left for dead by his family, casted out by society and forced to play the role of a circus freak that people can gawk and laugh at. These people never saw a man, only a monster and in doing so they made Waylon into one. He’s not a monster because of his condition. He’s a monster because he’s been forced into becoming one by a society that rejected him because of his condition. Waylon is a victim and though it doesn’t justify what he turned into… you can at least sympathise and think of the man he would’ve been if people were more acceptive of him appearances and all.

I think my favorite part of these tapes in the last one where he mockingly says “Reminds me of my childhood.” It’s just such a cruel little twist of the knife to remind her how he’d fooled her even when she thought she saw through him.

What bugs me the most is how Quincy Sharp was best known for exterminating Inmates of the Asylum due to failing to cure them, yet for whatever reason, allowed this sociopathic Bastard to continue thriving especially after the incident with the Guard. Bro’s somehow sneaking in blades to his Cell proving he’s the most deranged & deadliest & seriously cunning patient on the Island, & Sharp casually ignores this inhumane downfall, allowing it to further increase in severe mentality. Meanwhile he’s exterminating some of the more lesser dangerous villains without hesitation. Doesn’t sit right with me one bit. Sharp is one of the seriously most underrated POS’s going for the Arkham Series. A lot of Zsasz’s unfortunate crimes really could’ve have been avoided.

3:18 Riddler thinks that Batman is just another crime lord who funds operations by feasting on the wealth of other criminals while bribing the cops, which explains why he can't accept it's Bruce Wayne. Even though it's the obvious choice. Super-rich white guy, lives in Gotham, in great physical shape, and has a bone to pick with criminals. Hell, I'm sure the average white-collar criminal would've figured out who Batman is by hacking the network and figuring out who pays for all those fancy Bat-vehicles and gadgets.

It sounds way more tame in this video but in person, the 4th tape where they are talking about batman, causing riddler to uncontrollably shout “MOST PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS!!” It sounds so guttural and insane that I had to go back and listen to it over again like 5 times lmao it was cracking me up. The voice actors were so damn good in this game and riddler has some of the best tapes.

There is more than one kind of insanity in psychiatrics and Young is debating Riddler is "insane" or not? But I don't think that is the point of view we need. Insanity is just as much a legal determination as a state of mind and legally the question of criminal insanity is this "Is this person able to recognize right from wrong during the time of their criminal act?" Riddler is clearly able to do that. Then there is the morally insane which is "does the person care about the life, limb and welfare of those he encounters?" No, he does not. Riddler is in full control of his actions and understands the consequences that others will bear because of these actions. So, because he is making a conscious choice he is beyond rehabilitation as long as his would view doesn't change. These people are prime candidates for the death penalty as their continued existence becomes an existential threat to everyone around them.
