Man. I still remember the good ol' wild-west-style days of '01 RS1. How garbage like steel or mith was common, and any black item drops were worth a _fortune._ Mostly because you'd have to dodge a _clan war_ just to get to the drop spot. Nobody had rune, or any idea how to play, and it was just.. chaos. I still remember when people figured out 'prayer beasts' were a thing. I wish I could say I had more insight into this, but really, I spent my time scavenging, trading, or dealing with the goddamn saber clan -.- EDIT: ..seriously, it was wild how much (comparatively) just the iron/steel plate drops from mid-deep wildy sold for back in the day. Stuff was _nuts._ 3:15 - I mean, really, I did see _that_ outfit a lot, but yeah.. don't discount the wildy pickups. Once people started scavenging, it was WAY more common to see FULL steel. Usually with a mithril or black shield. ...hm. I guess I _do_ have more to add. Because around the same time, you'd see the steel plate/mith shields, and black med helms, as those became more common.
I remember the day the Dark Bow was released and some PKer found a way to one shot pretty much any setup lol. Classic grainy pk vids on youtube with Lincoln Park in the background.

The rune in RuneScape did not stand for rune armor as it was actually runite armor.

I feel like I've always been behind the on trends. Always trying to grind to play catch up. By the time I acquire a BIS item there's a new BIS item even more difficult to get that everyone's trying to get or afford.

I can confirm this is a series and that there will be more episodes. Something came up in real life a little while back and we were forced to press pause on the series temporarily, but we should be resuming production on the next video next week. It's more of a video essay like the other video, but it will help to explain this series as well. After that is supposed to be another video essay that we anticipate will be as big as the last one. Then the next video should be episode 2 of this series.

It would be surprisingly difficult to pull off 2008-2012 for RS3 due to a lack of good info out there, but for OSRS 2013-2024 would really only be possible if we split it into stab/slash/crush since everything is so niche now.

The series will continue. We had some old footage that wasn't really ideal so we decided to scrap the original footage and record some new footage. However, there have been some IRL issues putting a pause on the next episode. Rest assured that it's coming.
Im only in the intro right now... But having it be "In the End" by Linkin Park is such a throwback for me. That was one of the main songs that I had in the background while grinding on runescape 2.

You're wrong on the gloves, it was possible to switch the chaos/cooking gaunts back in the day You didn't mention al kharid and its shops i (and many) others had 85+ slayer when whips got released, noone had to boost, i farmed 5? on the first day, they were pretty common (most common rare weapon ever, due to overfarming) and prices dropped from 280m to 20m in a week to a more stable 12m for months afterwards Also contrary to your claims, less people had a dragon scimitar compared to a whip, Jagex released a statement on it as well, i guess monkey madness was too hard back in the day XD You took into account not wearing a gold ring as BIS, arrows for meleeas BIS but you didn't mention BIS for speccing... Ha!? XD You didn't mention the part where an uber geek cracked the code, hacked in yet unobtainable rune armor, went to pk with it, died and lost it, but i guess it's best to leave that out not to stain on bluerose his achievements And even though 99% of the people think it's a she, last time i checked he was still a man.... You're wrong on the gloves. Not possible to switch them until 2005. Check the patch notes on the OSRS wiki. Al Kharid shops are one of the first things mentioned in the video. Can't confirm or deny the rest of the hearsay. Memories can get fuzzy after 20+ years.

We deserve Oldschool Classic, just copy and give us the August 2007 port of the game again but never update it again. Only bot bans and bug fixes. I'd play that every day.

gwd Godwars dungeon was released in 2007. I still remember watching PK vids in October and November 2007 before wilderness was removed of people pking with AGS. There is one video I still know of that exists vid its upload that of AGS pking on a zerk is BENNY pk vid 8 called godsword pking, uploaded on November 10th 2007. Dragon boots also existed at this point. I also remember myself when it released around late summer 2007 in August just before school started.
That's irrelevant for this video. This only covers through the OSRS snapshot taken on August 10, 2007. GWD wasn't released until later that same month, but still outside the scope outlined in the video.
@@HamOSRS Ah, then I understand that the video ends at the scope of the version when OSRS was released where gwd had not yet been official. But if I remember correctly before they released gwd for osrs I think it was in 2013, they said that everything already existed but had not yet been added, so the 3 man dev team at that did not have to do any extra work.

I remember bluerose. I also remember playing in my library in 2001 and scamming people by placing an adamant battle ax up for trade and then quickly switching it for an iron battle ax. I did this scam dozens of times. This was a proto-thieving skill.
Its funny that thieving was a literal skill in the game but jagex somehow thought that people scamming in the game wasn't okay despite that. Scamming should be an everyday part of runescape, it builds the fun of the world where people steal from stalls, get robbed by highwaymen on the way to varrock and get assaulted by haunted trees

Some people got whips before getting 85 slayer. There was a developer oversight for a while where rings of recoil worked on slayer monsters. So with some rings of recoil and an inhuman amount of patience, it was possible to kill abyssal demons without the slayer level requirement.

What makes you think Torag's Platebody was ever the best in slot? Dharok's and Guthan's platebodies have the exact same stats, and are actually parts of useful sets.
Yep exactly, Torags has always been the cheapest so that would be an easy tiebreaker over the other two you mentioned.
imagine the feeling of power when you are the only person in the game who can craft the addy set and there's no other way of obtaining it than to buy it from you with the price you set. you would definitely have a gf
