For only tar, just go with XR. But if you would like more gravel riding, and mabe very long trips, the GS would be your best option I think. The XR is more for quite serious paved riding, but still a good touring bike....

I never saw GS bouncing like that because of quickshifter. It must be incredible feeling accelerating that fast on a beast that literally bounces every time you upshift. Plus the boom sound every time. Other bikes just don't give this feeling. Maybe new CRF1100 Africa Twin, that bike is also very loud on quickshifter upshifts.

I'd go for the V3. So many little things have been improved. And that amount to a lot. And the electronics are much better now. But the V2 is nowhere bad.
