    Hi there, you just popped up on my timeline and I just went through your 6 Simpsons reactions, very nice! Glad you're enjoying the show! It's on season 35 now which is nuts. I think it's generally agreed that the first 10 seasons are the best, some extend that to about 15 seasons, but there is a cutoff where it starts becoming kind of a parody of itself. But you'll definitely enjoy yourself for a while. Subbed and will be around for more!

    This episode was written by Al Jean, the longest serving writer on the show, he's still there now in Season 35! Al and many writers say that Lisa is also there favourite character, because the writers of the show were also clever kids who felt like outsiders. Matt Groening did want to make the characters recognisable in Silhouette, he was inspired to do that by Mickey Mouse. Thanks for the reaction mate, good time!

    The slapping joke is a reference to Patton from WWII. He was stripped of command over a "slapping" incident involving some soldiers suffering from shellshock. Or in his view cowards. No one knows for sure but the general assumption is that by "slapping" what they really meant is Patton legitimately threatened to have them executed on the spot. The guy was crazy.

    I love the natural progression of the bond between Kong and Suko. Even with that "I'll beat a motherfucker with another motherfucker" moment. And the fact that Jia was prophesized as a hero who can rouse Mothra from her slumber is amazing, same with her meeting other members of her people. Fun fact: Dan Stevens also played The Beast in the remake of Beauty And The Beast.

    @@user-luciddream I get what you're saying but then people should at least read it when the series is done so they can experience the original source material from the author himself. But most wont do that. The amount of people that loved GOT but didn't go on to read the books is insane, and they say "oh but I watched the show so whats the point kf reading the books?" - I mean aside from the fact that the books are very different from the show, they're the original source material written how the author intended, as apposed to an adaptation that changed way too much.

    I support this journey! But pace yourself because it’s been around for some time. While current adult animated series like Family Guy, Rick and Morty, South Park, etc took their lead from Simpsons, they all get a little too bogged down with gross out humor and trolling censors, and subsequently lose the heart that Simpsons has regularly brought to the table.

    So cool to see a reaction video for The Simpsons! Seasons 1 and 2 feel like a completely different show because the animation, voices and general comedic style were still being developed. From season 3 until around season 9 it is one of the smartest and consistently hilarious comedy shows ever made. Some of the pop culture references are dated by today’s standards but imagine watching a modern South Park episode 30 years from now and trying to remember what the writers are talking about. Would highly recommend sticking with it if this is your first watch through, keep up the great content!!

    Some people are lead astray by the first Star Wars films starting in the middle of the journey of Darth Vader's story. Most won't realize that is the story's main theme. Dune does not do that, it begins with start of Paul's story, not the middle of the story. Star wars lifted Paul's journey in the books, and changed it to be Darth Vader's. If we get a third and four Dune move then we will get the full match up to story arc in the the Star War's eight films.

    In the 6 Dune books rewritten by the Frank Herbert is is the story of the Atreides blood line. Frank's son, based on notes of his father, allegedly., complete the Dune story but with a twist to make the whole story about the transformation of Duncan Idaho.

  • @donny1960
    @donny1960 Жыл бұрын

    @@mwsjohn A unique interpretation. By the end of the 6th original book. The only character left from the Paul era was Duncan. Regenerated for thousands of years. So Frank told that story. His son just took parts of the original story and focused on that element for each book he helped write. Then in the later books regenerated almost all the original characters. Also wrote specific books about all the Houses. But Duncan was involved in almost all. Frank wanted a physical version of one of the characters to live on. Not just in "memories".

  • @mwsjohn
    @mwsjohn Жыл бұрын

    @@donny1960 Could it be that Duncan is a representation of Frank's idealized self. I see three converging strands in Frank's novels: the Atreides blood line Bene Gesserit merging with the Honored Matres to fuse the old knowledge with the new knowledge from the scattering; Duncan receiving more and more abilities from the numerous genetic alterations and the recall of accumulated knowledge of past lives; and the independence of the new face dancers who can control how they use the knowledge they steal from their victims. All have accumulated the collective wisdom of humankind. Who would have won out in the final book from Frank?

  • @donny1960
    @donny1960 Жыл бұрын

    @@mwsjohn I think the "reformed" Bene Gesserit were Herbert's final Hero's. But of course all the leaders of the Bene Gesserite were Atreides..... and "Jessica" types........ ha ha. And yes Duncan was the strand that went back all the way to the beginning. It is all complex and mysterious. But Herbert knew, that even if he literally left Paul in the dust. We would be nostalgic for the original players. And Duncan was the tie in. Always loyal to Paul and his Duke's.

That's a little harsh and I also watch other reactors and take note of what they leave in and out so I can learn more about editing, so I know this isn't true either. They are adding the scenes for the overall story, it's not for anyone specific. Craig Mazin went into detail about why he made certain decisions and changes from the source material and it's never for the same reason. This reaction is also not a replacement or substitute for the episodes so I hope everyone who watches has watched the episode.
