    Hi Beadsmith, this is exactly what I'm looking for. 1. Can I use it for stringing Freshwater pearls? I'm little worried that as far as I know the hardness of pearl is weak (6.0 mose) relatively other gems like diamonds. So, during spinning I wonder if it can be harmed or not. 2. Does it work at 3mm Swarovski pearls? Because it is so small, I'm not sure that if the needle can pass through the hole of them. Thank you for the great solution!

  • @TheBeadSmith
    @TheBeadSmith3 жыл бұрын

    Tinkling Crystals thank you for your message. The answer to your question is, no. If you apply too much pressure the engraving head will just stop spinning. The motor is designed to rotate fast enough to let you engrave.

    Can I use stretchy string with this?

  • @TheBeadSmith
    @TheBeadSmith4 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for your question. The challenge with stretch cord would be the thickness of it. It would be difficult to pass through a needle and once folded the beads might have a challenge passing over the cord. The spinner is ideal for this threads.

  • @TheBeadSmith
    @TheBeadSmith4 жыл бұрын

    Hello Mandy! Here's an answer from our Creative Director: USING SPIN N BEAD WITH OTHER CORDS: You can use other strings or cords with the Spin n Bead, even when your string is too thick for the special needle. Here’s how. Take a 6 inch piece of Fireline and thread it on the Spin needle. Knot the ends of Fireline, making a loop. Now take your thicker string and string that through the Fireline loop as if it was the eye of a needle. Use the Spin needle as usual, sliding the beads up the needle, over the Fireline, and onto your thicker string. Remember the beads must still be able to fit over your string doubled, since it is folded through the Fireline loop.

    I bought the small clear version but after about a month or so I had to clean it. I rinsed it off with water, let it dry but it wasn't sticky like new. About half the stickiness was gone. A few weeks later I washed it again and now it's barely sticky. What should I do? It won't hold the beads in place anymore

    It seems that the crimp is only holding the wire at either end. The traditional way of crimping holds the wire the entire length of the crimp. Unless there is something that I don't understand, I don't see the benefit of this because it looks less reliable. It is pretty and saves on crimp covers.
