Beauty!!!
Is crazy how stuff can you get kind of beat up to sitting in the garage when you're trying to protect it
Unfortunately, and it creates yet another setback.
Is this a warning since my truck has been sitting so long?
My truck was down since mid November Last Year, just got it tuned to drive it yesterday. 8 months waiting washard.
Nice, Got my Truck street tuned for now, it runs and drives fine, steering seems more responsive, vacuum booster definitely was affected by the cam but I like a stiffer brake pedal, I may will do a max safe dyno and steet tune after I get the driveshaft bearing and AC fixed, I will have a video of it running, I like the mystical demeanor of the sound from it. I May get a different booster, then upgrade the drums to 7000 lb wheel cylinders (going to skip going to disc due to swap complexity and overall cost) just having to get used to a looser converter
@@shadowopsairman1583 that's great news! Glad you have it up and running to the point where you can drive it.
Very nice. Glad to see it at this point
@@bluecollarhotrods9781 still has stock shift points, he was modest with the tune as he was riding with me and I drove it a good 45 minutes
@@Ralf1NATORyeah I'm satisfied, I'm just wondering when I do the max safe dyno/street tune if I should go ahead and get the L59 33 lb injectors, they make adapter pig tails for them, if I do that would I need to upgrade the fuel pump as well? It's currently using the gen 3 intake with 25 lb injectors. The exhaust note with stock muffler is mysterious due to the cam's behavior, it definitely has the idle chop but man it's smooth as heck in the gas. It climbs Hills under idle but doesn't lurch forward trying to defeat the brakes at all. It also doesn't surge after letting off of the gas, it decels properly.
@shadowopsairman1583 I would definitely upgrade injectors. I have 30lb in my truck and they are nearly maxed out.
Finally getting the Street Tune Tomorrow, Im going to try to get a video of it running
@@shadowopsairman1583 I bet you are beyond ready to have your truck back.
Can you inform me on how you got the 40k (smaller one) once from the ford to work in your Silverado? What would I have to change to make that one fit. I have a 00 sierra 2500 and I’m in need of this hack

Have they fixed the issue cause it doesn’t show the loop on there website anymore
@@trevorrichardson272 they might have, I haven't heard anything from them. But I did make a few suggestions when I emailed them after the installation.
U should do another short sound clip video with the camera set like 10ft from the truck set it at like 2000rpm and 3000 rpm (if brakes will hold it back) and do with the cutout closed and then again with them open and love to see how it sounds
@@FrogsGarage I'm leaning towards open cut out 2 step launches to finish off my street tires. But, trying it at different RPMs would be interesting too.
U only needed 2 wires to the switch just so u know 🧐 didn’t need 3

Bro, on the dyno i put Down 440 Hp Crank tho, 346Hp to the rear wheels.
My old man had alot if 71 and 72 Chevelles when i was growing up. I love those GM A body cars. We are currently looking for a 71/72 to put a Hendrick SB2 and a t56 in.
That sounds like a fun combination.
We going to get to hear it
@@CCAutoWorks with mufflers eventually. 😄 There's a short of it when I finally got it running decent. But, basically manifolds and maybe 3-4 feet off pipe off of them. Eventually a full 2.5" system with an X pipe and big case mufflers, factory cowbell tips. I have the parts, just need to get it to my friend so he can weld it up real pretty.
See to me that does seem odd. I would have assumed a small power loss with the gear swap but i also would have thought the lighter wheels would have made it a wash. I haven't used a dyno much just track times but we all know the gear swap ratio usually offsets the power loss. Im just curious in the weight difference in the converters. The common wisdom tells us less rotating mass equals more applied power. Good video as always keep the education coming ✌️
The FTI in the truck now and the TSI I took out were similar in weight. (37-39lb range) The factory converter was 50ish lbs - you can see the power numbers didn't change when I swapped it for that tight TSI - despite the weight difference and more efficient.
@@bluecollarhotrods9781 i admit i was surprised. I didn't expect a 20 hp gain but i didn't expect to see a loss on the graph. Just goes to show its not what we think we know that the dyno tells us the truth. I had a similar finding when i swapped to an aluminum flywheel and stage 2 clutch. Made a bit more power but was slower at the track to the 330. Never completely understood it but it was explained to me as a spinning mass equation. Easier to keep the heavier mass spinning once its already moving. Revved like a motorcycle tho 😂
@@Ralf1NATOR yeah, years ago we put an aluminum flywheel and lightweight clutch in a friend's mustang. No dyno numbers, but would not 60 for $h!t
@@bluecollarhotrods9781 yep thats exactly what i ran into. Better power but less performance
@@Ralf1NATORinertia, momentum,
I wasn't expecting those numbers for sure
@@CCAutoWorks Imagine my surprise. 😄 Oh well... it went 13.000 before the converter. I don't care what it makes on the dyno if it runs 12s at the track and gaps fools on the street.
@@bluecollarhotrods9781 I feel the same way but I really would be depressed if I knew what my little 5.3 made
@@CCAutoWorks no shame in real numbers. Your 60E doesn't eat up as much power. So that'll help. And per my test - obviously wheels don't matter much unless you have some Bubba tires.
Your Engine was running sloppy at rolling before you went full throttle, you are running a maf and map right
@@shadowopsairman1583 I'm not sure I follow... Yes, still MAF and MAP on the truck.

@@shadowopsairman1583 likely was shifting, then the converter locked. We ran in in 3rd - 1:1

You are right about the things you said need to be changed to help. 02 fbody, t56 5.7 ported 241's ls2 intake, full exhaust, put down 402/400 with TN cam
@@b19jrm yup, less parasitic drivetrain will do that. Guys with trucks that don't have ported heads, an automatic, etc - they're nowhere near those numbers. (Which was the main point of this) My 2001 SS M6 car with TFS 215s, 234/242 cam, headers, exhaust, stock intake and TB did 473/436. My 2000 Z28 A4 did 480/443 on the same dyno... but I assure you was much quicker. Almost 10 more MPH of trap speed and over 1 second quicker ETs.
Too many projects i presume

@@bluecollarhotrods9781good, my parts arrived today but I'm taking a break, worked too many weekends, going to finish up on wednesday, will be using blue locktite on a few threads on those bolts, also got gm rocker trays to get the aftermarket trays out.
Great video! I love your process for moving that tube over. Has Flashark contacted you?
Was it purchased through the GM website?
One came from GM Parts Direct, one from Rock Auto, and another from a GM Dealer online. They were all the same. I sent the 1st two back and just modified the bracket. I think I need to grab a bunch of these cables from the self serve junk yards when I can.
That sucks
At least it was an easy fix this time. I'm grateful for that. I was thinking that I was going to have to weld up some holes and do bodywork.
Do those cars have RPO codes?
Yes, but no build sheet = no way of knowing most of the codes. By the VIN and trim tag - we know it was triple green, vinyl top, beach seat, 350 2bbl.
I hear u and feel your frustration everything we buy has to be modded
Plot twist, I shifted through the gears before I finalized everything - to make sure it worked. It worked, but this cable is 2 piece. It popped apart and I can't seem to get it back together. 😡 I swear I'm going to the junkyard and pulling a bunch of these cables to keep on hand. @ShadowOps had brand new cam and crank sensors that were no good. He installed his old sensors from the cooked engine and they worked.
It's all good, the ls pickup tube girdle I ordered last year wouldn't fit over properly and my friend had to modify it, I went on a-m_@z0-n and negative marked it for it. Anyways I believe I dodged a bullet and the Lord was watching out for me because I opened the valve train and found 1 loose rocker on both banks of the engine, 1 rocker took damage slightly on 1 edge, the other didn't, all pushrods are ok. Either I made an amateur mistake by not torquing those 2 or the Lord revealed to me info to go ahead and replace those bushing trunnions with bearings. For now I'm going to go with the gm/gm performance/acdelco stock rockers which are used in the ls1, 6, 2, 3, 4.
When I did the valve springs on the other truck, I either missed one or it loosened up. Luckily no damage because it didn't run long.
@@bluecollarhotrods9781i ran it twice, glad its simple fix and not a bad lifter. Did you locktite any of the rocker bolts?
@@bluecollarhotrods9781 Did you use any threadlocker after that?
@@shadowopsairman1583 I did not. Ran through the valves again once I installed the spring seats and correct seals. Then I let it run and go through a full heat cycle. It's been driven since then, seems to be fine. I'm leaning towards me getting distracted and missing that one rocker arm previously.
Frustrating at minimum 🤦🏻♂️ Bro at least you have the skills, equipment & ability to work around China-Joe's design flaws👍😎
I'd be SOL without those things.
Chyna Joe lol
You might be able to answer this. The 5.7 past Saturday is in , i had to drop both the crank and cam sensor from the 4.8 in as the ngk/wve units were turds. Anyways Wednesday I was at my friends getting the cam sensor in, after starting He noticed valve train chatter (sewinf machine like a lifter) On past Sunday we did not have this chattter. Well I have michigan motorspors "bronze" bushing trunnions in the rockers, i recently saw 2 bad reviews on them prematurley wearing out. The oil pressure is 70 psi which is ideal. With the texas speed chopacabra cam are you using the stock gm ls rockers? I think I made a mistake in getting those bushings as a "durability" upgrade.
Yes - I reused: rockers, pushrods, timing chain, oil pump. You see it's been in my truck for almost 2 years now. Multiple dyno pulls, 1/4 mile passes, and around 14K street miles on it since install. The trunion upgrade I have had the best luck with are the BTR V1 bearings. They're in the 2000 Sierra RCSB with a 6.0L and Comp XR275 cam.
@@bluecollarhotrods9781so you didnt re-use stock trunnions/bearings? BTR have V2 kits which are a bearing metal now, i may get those, i dont know
@@shadowopsairman1583 on my Silverado, I did reuse everything. The rockers literally got a bath in carb cleaner, air dry, then soaked in oil before install.

how much did you pay for it from the scrap yard? i'd be worried about the junk inside coming out and destroying my trans. what of that truck had a blown trans? how do you clean it out? pressure washer?
Brake clean + compressed air. I'm running a couple of the 40k coolers scavenged from the junkyard on other vehicles with no issues. I was paying about $20 for them at the self serve yards.

Hey just wondering what kind of power do think this cam would make in 6.0 bored .20 with flat top pistons? Thanks

I ended up putting this cam in an LQ4, with 862 heads, TBSS intake, 92mm TB, electric fans, 160 degree thermostat, headers, exhaust with cut outs, CAI, 93 octane. I have a 4L80E transmission. It did 336 rwhp with 4.10 gears, I switched to 4.56s and it did 330 rwhp - 360 rwtq a week ago. My truck is 4650+ with me in it. Ran a best of 13.000 @ 105.84 MPH before I did the 3200 stall converter. It's for sure a 12 second truck in cooler weather. Hopefully that answers most of your questions.

@@augustlyons it's probably going to make similar power. That Monte is a good amount lighter than my truck. (And more aerodynamic) So setup properly, should run deep 12s on a tire. Potentially even a little faster.
Man i really like the sound of that magnaflo vs my Flowmaster. I definitely want to do a set of cut outs for track use. I know it doesn't affect much power wise but at least it would sound like it belongs there 😂
