Completely disagree for certain cases. There are many examples to the contrary, like Everdell Mistwood expansion. But yeah, their FOMO pushing is very evil psychology that does NOT belong in the board gaming community.

I have a quick question as a beginner. When you gain Major power card from your growth phase, are you supposed to discard a power card from your hand? Am I reading the rules wrong or is this rule only for multiplayer? Also, you don’t have to use a power during any of the power phases, but they still get discarded at end of round and don’t carry over right?

Great vid! Question. You were attacked on multiple ocasions on the land where you did have presence. From what i understand from the rules, damage to the land removes 1 presence token from that land and defence does not affect that. So when you are attacked, you lose your presence. Second thing. You had situation at the beggining where you were attacked with power of 6. You had 6 defence but from what i understand, defence does not cancel attack to the land. So you should add blight there as well as losing your presence. Or i don't get the rules of this yet?

Regardless of why you rate a game as high or low is almost irrelevant (take that carefully here). Whatever the game does to make you like it, that is fine. We take that and put weight on the game in our "we like" lists. I like lists... All the reviewers we look at have a variety of reasons for their ratings. I watch your reviews and value them, so don't worry if someone gripes. They watch as well it would seem.... May the one true God provide you the path. As you reflect upon our earthly condition remember, Adam did not sin eating the fruit of knowlege of good and evil. It was a knowing acceptance of the mission to make good in the world filled with evil. It's tough, but we never stop and the path reveals itself as we live our lives.

Odd or even is not random, it is determined by the majority when setting up the board.

@@paulcooke100 you are incorrect. When setting up you draw 2 cards per house. Then whatever the majority of those cards are, odd or even, determines whether you use odd or even for the AI. Go read the rules.

I love all the suggestions, I’ve heard of almost none of those games except war fighter. I’m just getting into solo gaming and have bought a few. The two id recommend as a beginner myself is 1: one deck dungeon. Great dice rolling game, very fun and casual, you get build a character that levels up across multiple play throughs. A lot of expansions and tons of replayability. Fairly quick game, especially to setup and put away which I’m finding to be a big factor. And then my next favorite I just got a couple days ago is Hornet Leader. I’ve always loved aviation so that was right up my alley. Not a cheap game at about $110 but worth it imo. There are hundreds of cards, tons of different airplanes and pilots each with their capabilities and limitations. A large array of munitions to choose from. Half the fun is choosing the pilots/aircraft’s and their load outs. Another game I got which is not too bad though I haven’t played it too much so I can’t give a great opinion is Sky Horde Tear. Seems fun, and challenging, with a lot of expansions. Deck building opportunity. Different enemies, different allies/play styles. I’m leaning more to the positive side on that game though, I think after a few more play throughs it’ll be more fun. Mini Rogue. I’m not sure how I feel about this one. Some weird things like 5 boss slots but 4 boss cards. An apparent ghost card that it tells you to fight as part of the core but only comes in an expansion. Seems overly simplistic if nothing else. Mage knight I bought thinking it was solitaire game after about $80 and 4 hours of learning I realized there’s 1 lousy single player mission that it says is simply for learning the game. That sucked. Takes a long ass time to set up and put away too. And it’s huge. The type of game I left on the floor for a few days as I played the same single mission a few times. Fun game but not a solitaire.

this was really helpful...hoping to play soon. The mystic reaper was actually dead, I think you forgot to take spike damage from moving through the spikes. So 4 spike damage, 8 bleed damage, and 8 reaction damage.

Great video! I knew I was in the right place when you professed your love for Warfighter and Roll Player. I love Warfighter because of the story it tells while you play. I will definitely be checking out some of the other recommended titles. Keep up the great work!

Very interesting list, especially your #1 choice. I love train themed and tile laying games, so you gave me more ideas. However, I’m supposed to be at a slow crawl with the purchase of new games. I have Earth and so far enjoy the multiplayer game and yet to try solo play. I got it right before Wyrmspan was released otherwise, it would have been a difficult choice between the two. I have Legacy of Yu, a solo campaign game. Played one time so far, but looking forward to rebooting it. Also have Falling Skies, another solo only game.

I need to admit that I’m somewhat of a sucker for expansion sets. It’s okay though because rarely have I regretted it or not used the expansion sets.

Great review! I occasionally play solo games but tend to do it more to learn how to play a game before teaching others. I certainly desire to play solo games more often. This looks like a fantastic choice. I’ve only played Wingspan a few times online via Board Game Arena and via hard copy. All good experiences. Since I know enough people with a copy of Wingspan, I chose to get Earth, instead. It has a solo mode too that I have yet to try.

I completely agree… my 11 year old daughter cannot put this game back in the shelf… as soon as we finished, she just say: “let’s play again!” This does not happen often with other games… we never tried the Extreme and nightmare levels of the game? Did you try it? Actually, that’s the only other think I wish you could have mentioned about this game. Thanks again.

1) if you hadn't won, would the new fear cards be played at the next terror level even though you drew it before the terror level card? 2) if playing 2 player on that map, do you still get to choose which board you'd like for the start, or do you have to consider the entire map for the starting position?
