Thanks for sharing this. I'm glad it wasn't any worse. I understand the "I know I shouldn't do this, but it's just a quick cut... " thought. Mine cost me 8 hours in the ER and the tip of a finger, but could have been much worse. In addition to practicing much safer practices in general, I won’t make any cut if I have any doubt about. I hope that your experience will save someone else from an injury that easily could have been avoided.

I wish you hadn’t super speeded up the wiring. This is the bit that would have been most useful to me as I cannot find any reliable information on wiring an on/off toggle switch.

Great job! I just tried making one that rides on my cross cut sled but the 8 1/4 inch blade doesn't reach up high enough. But this one will work.

Very good job, but for the next time, clamp your piece to the drill bench from the beginning, the holes will be more precise.

I just made on of these. you will have to extend the back fence on both sides so that it doesnt leave a little piece stuck on either ur cut off piece or ur work piece.

Great idea and video. I would have screwed two Delrin or UHMW runners to the bottom for smooth sliding.

I plan to build two small sleds - one for mitre and another for exact cross cuts. Both will extend some what to the right of the blade to stabilize the offcut. Thought this would simplify box-making. I think one-purpose dedicated jigs afford more accuracy.

Love the idea. 1) It's small, 2) it's an easy 45 degree sled, and 3) it works for 90 degree cuts, too!

I think you should have spent more effort making sure the back rail was exactly at 90 degrees to the cut line. I'll bet if you did the five cut test you would find it's not as accurate as you think it is.
