The extractor on these has a lug on it right? I have some damage to the lug nearest the extractor and am trying to determine if I need a new bolt (which IWI doesn’t sell) or if that lug is part of the extractor itself.

@@spectre6682 It’s a chunk missing on the lug nearest the extractor, I contacted IWI they asked for photos but haven’t responded. SIG promised .357 SIG and .40 S&W conversion kits with these, then those never materialized (I know you mentioned these 14 minutes in, but I must repeat it because it's such a waste of potential - even better if 10mm was on the table). Too bad, because I'd absolutely buy this in .357 SIG. The form factor is perfect for it. I prefer the longer barrel of the Gen 1 over the absurdly short barrels of the modern Gen 3 K models or the comically long 16" rifle competition versions SIG is forcing us to buy from the factory.

I agree with you 100% I'm not sure who dropped the ball on that, but they did for sure and still haven't done much to try and recover from it. Even simply selling caliber exchange kits/barrels and not full weapons they could totally reach another audience and make it worth their while and appease a larger audience.

Where on the trigger you pull is hugely important. Also important is the angle of pull. If you pull out and away from the gun, or pull high or low, will through off the vector of the pull and the value. User error far more likely to cause variation than the tool in this case. I have one of these and live it, but i definitely went through you questioning of the need to know, and the price of that knowlege. I love the Triggertech Variable triggers for my ARs, and the guage was really helpful to match the triggers from gun to gun. One very important thing to bring out is how great Wheeler with their warranty and customer service. One of the best. I bought my guage used off Amazon. Turned out there was a software issue. I could have just returned it to Amazon, but decided to call Wheeler to make sure there wasn't some user or other easy fix i could do over the phone. I have a gun cleaning business, and if you'd like, I can tell you how many issues I've seen this stuff cause. Freezing in cold temps, gumming up around firing pins, getting sticky/gunky, the list goes on. With that said, people still defend it. They say...well, you didn't apply it correctly. Just think about that for a minute. Why on earth would anyone go through the whole vodoo ritual of heating parts up, applying the Froglube, then wiping it off when there are quite literally hundreds of other products out there where that whole process is not necessary? With most other lubes/oils, I really feel that you'd have to make quite an effort to actually overlubricate your firearm to the point of it not functioning. Froglube really ups the ante. Why risk it?
@spectre6682Ай бұрын
No matter what the topic is, there's always going to be people on either side defending it to the death. I have no stock or stake in the company or obligation to promote the product. I just use it and it has worked for me for years. Of the cases that you are aware of that have caused malfunctions or stoppages of the weapon, do you know if they did regular maintenance of their own? I always clean my guns after I shoot, even if it's only one round; and I will re-apply afterwards. Haven't had any of the issues you speak of, but I will keep my eyes out, thank you for sharing your experiences!
@someguy8446Ай бұрын
@@spectre6682 Very true. People will fight you to the death on it. It's hard for me to say what each maintenance routine was like for these firearms, b/c they belonged to customers. What I do remember, is that none of them struck me as being extremely dirty. Nothing out of the ordinary anyhow. What I was running into is the guns brought to me that had used Froglube, were usually not working due to failure to fire. What I would find is Froglube around the firing pin, and the guns would be extremely tacky. I was aware of the application process, so it got to the point where I decided to try Froglube out for myself. I bought the kit that came with the paste, solvent, and liquid clp. I tried it out on a new Mossberg 500. I cleaned off all the factory lube/oil with the Froglube solvent in an ultrasonic cleaner...which I will say worked well. I then proceeded to the ritual where I used my wife's hair dryer to heat up all the parts, applied the paste on all exterior surfaces, applied the liquid clp on all interior surfaces, then wiped it off. When I went to go use the shotgun, I had a failure to fire. Sure enough, Froglube had caked up around the firing pin. I let the bolt sit in the sun for a few minutes, and things started working again. I waited a few days, took the shotgun out again, and had the same issue. I also used the Froglube on a Mosin Nagant I wanted to store away. I applied a light film (as the directions stated) and left it for a few months. When I took it out, it was tacky, and it almost smelled rotten. I also did a test where I put some of the liquid clp and the paste on a paper plate, and stuck it in the freezer overnight. Both came out frozen. I know there is now an extreme version of it that's not supposed to freeze, but I don't feel it's worth my time. I was also skeptical on the claim that Froglube would soak into the pores of your firearm parts and season it, so I spoke with a metallurgist. What he told me was...metal has no pores, micro or otherwise. With all that said, here's my takeaway fwiw. Froglube is the first product I've used that had caused failures in my firearms. It doesn't make sense to me to use a product where the possibly exists that my firearm will fail if I use said product wrong.
