    Why people make things so complicsted just so you can establish a company to help a cause of your choosing?! If you privately fund everything yourself, probably less headache!

    Thank you for your video. I am an established for-profit business owner, I would like to start my own non-profit business, I have a burning passion to give back to the community because of my adversities in life. I also know of a close friend who has her own realty business and non-profit. We have had discussions on collaborating. I have several decisions.

    Some exciting decisions to make! If you’re still having a hard time deciding. I just dropped a podcast talking about the options for-profits have to make an impact without starting a nonprofit. Thought of starting a sole member nonprofit but you still have to depend on others (the board).😊 How much do to give % ? Thankyou

  • @Ashlee_Tate

    How much you decide to give is completely up to your discretion. It then becomes a donation that your business can write off during taxes for charity or advertising depending on which direction you choose.

    I definitely don't think of 150 people as a small event. When I hear start small to learn at your first event I'm thinking you mean like 20 people.

  • @Ashlee_Tate
    @Ashlee_Tate20 күн бұрын

    You’re so right! Lol. It completely depends on your ultimate goal as to what you consider small especially if you are fundraising.

  • @Mystefier

    @@Ashlee_Tate That makes sense. 150 would be amazing. But I guess you also did say take a whole year to prepare and I've been giving myself like between a couple months and a couple weeks. But also I use smaller events as a way to attract talent for larger events like a Karaoke party to find singers and craft club to find artists. I don't know if that's smart. I'm still figuring it out.

  • @cinders302
    @cinders30215 күн бұрын

    Oh yes it is. It's very small, unless you're comparing it to a family gathering

  • @Mystefier
    @Mystefier15 күн бұрын

    @@cinders302 It depends on what you count as an event. Maybe you're only counting expos and festivals, but how many of the events in the world are just a Christmas party out of someone's apartment. Remember we are talking about "first event" so not something made by a corporation, but one person with no experience planning their first party. Or how many kids growing up who have a birthday party get 150 people to show up? If you know a resource where someone with no experience what so ever and is the average person that decides they want to have a party can easily mention their party online with no cost saying, "Hey guys I'm having a party" and 150 show up without effort. If you know such a resource, please do share. Is that how many you got on your first event with no experience? The central library in Los Angeles, even their biggest event spaces can only hold 250 people. Many businesses like night clubs and coffee shops can't even hold 150 people. The world is so full of local gallery art showings and kids birthday parties and even friends getting together to do table top role playing games, if you took every event in the world and ordered them based on how many people show up I doubt if the median event size is anywhere near 150 people let alone if you only take into account first time events by solo event planners. Maybe you only go to big expos and festivals, but there are many many many other events going on in the world. I don't think we should be telling new event planners that they are a failure if they don't get 150 people on their first event ever and I even think it's really risky for someone with no experience to jump into something that size not fully knowing the legal issues that might be involved.

  • @Mystefier

    @@cinders302 We're talking about the first event the person has ever done in their entire life. Do you only ever go to Festivals and Expos? There are a lot of Christmas parties at someone's apartment or Gallery events and birthday parties for kids or some band playing in a coffee shop. You think they typically get 150? If you know such a resource that the average person with absolutely no experience planning any event what so ever in their life (even a birthday party) and gets 150 people by just saying, "hey I'm throwing a party" please let me know what resource that is and able to get it on an advertising budget that the typically household can afford. Most event venues won't even allow 150. Most events aren't done in a Hotel conference room. Most are done out of a house or apartment. Is it very positive to tell a first time event organizer that they are a loser if they get less than 150 people to their event? Even burning man started with only 20 people. If it is really easy to get 150 people, with a beginners budget, then please share how.

    Nonprofit yes, corporations and LLC s no paying an agent of "public office" is very unnecessary when you can just read yourself and learn as you go attorneys, by their jurisdiction, works ONLY for the court and state not the client remember the land is occupied unlawfully one must learn law on our own to get successful results rather lose money in private and public jurisdictions

    Social entrepreneurship is not based on a non-profit business model. True social entrepreneurship exists in for-profit ventures & is defined by four essential characteristics. A business lacking any one of these four is not a social entrepreneurship business. 1) It has a blended mission statement focused on both social & financial objectives. 2) It creates rather than transfers measurable financial & social value. 3) It is sustainable based on market-based business principles alone. 4) It is scalable in size or scope & creates change on a systemic level. EXAMPLE- The black female hair care industry that was founded by Madam CJ Walker & Annie Malone met all the above requirements. Decisions should not be made on the basis of a binary choice between financial profit & social change, but rather, they should be made exclusively to benefit BOTH, or at a minimum, they must do no harm to either one.

    Best way is to just start! You can start with a fiscal sponsor or as your own nonprofit with my Start your nonprofit in 30 days course at unleashyourpurpose.thinkific.com As a caveat, it doesn’t directly help with personal taxes. It helps your donors that give to the organization. Just wanted to clarify… let us know how things go!
