I'm surprised you didn't use Meshmixer. How does Blender compare to Meshmixer for this kind of job?
@joygamesinteractive3 жыл бұрын
Hey! is that i directly never used meshmixer, i was going to add in descripton that it can be done by ANY software that handles STLs, but i only use blender and zbrush. The reason of me using Blender in the video and in general, is because it is a free software, taht can be used by many other things, that is why i have it (for example, i also use it to rig my 3d printable models and use them in Unreal Engine, in my project of turning my models into life, in a video game: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lpyGrq-NpbLAZqw.html ) But the same procedure could be done in any other software, with similar actions (names may change, for example in zbrush it is "split" , no "separate")

awesome you can make a game with your dwarf designs :D
@joygamesinteractive4 жыл бұрын
With any model as long as i have the T pose. I saw your dwarfs! i am planning (slow but steady journey) to invite other miniatures creators to participate. Imagine a game where first, you choose the creator (would be kind of GOD?, high lord? ) and then within that creator, you chose the faction, and then the unit type. the final idea is making it online, but at first will be singleplayer, kinda mount and blade tournament battles where 2-4 teams of about 10 warriors fight. Here, each team would be a faction, so there can be 2 factions of the same creator, 1 of another creator and the 4th, another creator, just as example (however , i want to make a neutral/gaia faction, where the player uses monsters.. when the time arrive, i would love to invite duncan shadow)

great video series! Did you have to do they UV's in order to put the mail pattern on his tunic?
@joygamesinteractive4 жыл бұрын
hi! you can add without UVS, but the image used (in this case the mail pattern) will be applied randomly, you can adjust, but never will be the best result, since making UVS, you can give multiple directions to diferent parts of the mesh depending on how you distribute the polygroups (that is why i make separate polygroups for arms, back and chest) No having UVS, will treat the mesh as a flat object. Imagine having a CUBE, you see it perfectly in the front. If you apply a texture without UVS , the FRONT and BACK of the cube will have the pattern "ok" (since the mesh -the cube- matches the "flattening"; but sides , top and down, will be stretched, unrecognisable , because the flattening is only in front. Here is a perfect example of "flattening" a mesh when texture is applied without uvs: cloytoons.files.wordpress.com/2016/01/no.jpg?w=676 see the top of that terrain? is perfect. but sides are stretched. that terrain mesh has no UVS, o badly made UVs. UVs are your best friends for colour texures, and surface modelling (the mail, for example)

Hey, great job! +rep for using Shaun Spalding's tutorials! :D In your reddit post, you mentioned that you started tweaking the codes and making your own games. I believe that this is the best way to learn and I wish you good luck with your GameDev journey! :) Here are just a few ideas for your game: 1. It seems like getting hurt doesn't do anything in the game, but I suppose that you just haven't added this in since it is a WIP. 2. If you could separate the cat and shadow sprites, you then would be able to let the shadow chill on the ground by using something like that in Shadow's (new object, to make it simpler) step event: x = Cat.x; without ever changing its Y value. Or draw this sprite in Cat's draw event, but you will need to figure out what the Y value for your ground is: draw_sprite(spr_shadow, 0, ground_y, x); draw_self(); 3. For some reason, your art loses a lot of quality. It would be a pity to have a finished game that doesn't look good just because of the scaling. Either your resolution is small and you are scaling sprites up in this game or there's something wrong with the import process itself. If I were you, I'd focus on figuring this problem out before moving further and drawing more pictures. Have fun making games! :)
@joygamesinteractive4 жыл бұрын
Hi! thanks for passing by, i saw your post too in reddit :) 1) you mean a effect like making a noise? i have no original sounds for now, but once i make them i will make it make a "meow" sound when hit. For now it just reducues HP (i have to add health bar) 2) i just havent made the jumping sprites yet, neither running, but since i saw shaun tuts, i have the code for animations. So when he jumps, the jumping sprite is called, and it has no shadow, thats covered :D 3) here the subject is about not deciding a the art style. The resolution is small (640x360) because i wanted to make a light weight fresh game with pixel art, but with big characters, so within the style, they would have more details. So i draw the cat, and it was ok, But then the human charater looks not that good, i have to play around it while drawing in photoshop. in the other hand i see my mistake now that i was writting: I red/watched tuts saying that it is better to make the original art in x2 scale than it will have in the final game. But i was about making ALL the game in x2 scale, i am a fool: i made the charaters art x2 in phothosop, yes, but then scaled down inside gamemaker haha, rahter than importing full size because then the scaling would be done autoatically in the device, i am not sure if i explain my self. I have to fix this now :) mostly for the human
