    I did not cry. Gal knows what he is doing. I watched the decline of Totilas after Gal was taken off, he hated his new rider. These were working correctly off their hocks, and obviously bred with the step. The blazed one is a tough horse. Maybe all you nay-sayers never got control of a tough horse. Man has been working horses for thousands of years, we've only been off them for about 150. Equitation became dressage. The old techniques are alive today. And if you want to know how they do it, LET YOUR STIRRUPS DOWN!

    Pferdecoach ....I agree totally with you. I do not understand the venom. I saw Totilas under Gal, and noted that the subsequent rider never had the same relationship, and the horse went into a decline. I know that Gal knows what he is doing. That blazed horse is a bit tough, but it was all a bit too exciting. Let us suppose that these jerky passage steps are harmful in the long run. If you ride your horse daily like this, the horse will develop unsoundness. If your horse jumps 1,60m every day on bad footing, he will develop unsoundness. This does not imply that these horses will develop unsoundness. There is a validity of artistic expression. As long as this happens in a show, with a clear understanding that this type of movement is harmful in the long run, there is nothing to say against doing this for very limited amounts of time. I don't think they are ridden like this all the time. Let us strive to become better riders for OUR horses. Let us count the times OUR horses became unsound and we were oh so unlucky, but we are so very classical, oh yes, we are just unlucky that our horses went lame. Or the horses of the persons who educated us about the evils of Gals of this world. We are responsible for OUR horses. We are not responsible for spitting venom at others. Gal is responsible for his horse. He is responsible for his future soundness and his happy retirement.

    Let me repeat this once more. Showing this in a dressage ring should bring in 4s and 5s. Doing this in the daily training would be crazy Russian spectacular car crash bad. But these horses have this crazy forehand action built in, almost like gaited horses have the things they do, so where else to display what they can do than in a circus setting like this?

  • @louisecassidy5991
    @louisecassidy59915 жыл бұрын

    A horse could not do this without fitness, and a very good rider. The only difficulty I saw was the blazed one pulling, and paying the price in that moment, with all the excitement. The high stepping is bred in them, simply refined in training. They had their hocks under them, where they should be for elevation, stacks of impulsion. I think a great deal of Gal, and I watched Totilas's decline when he was taken off him, he really didn't like the next bloke at all. I think everyone must be extremely jealous. I don't understand all this venom.

    That moment at the end was the bit that punched me in the gut. I was waiting throughout for Total US to have his moment of release and he didn’t get it. Edward certainly didn’t give him an inch with his head throughout, aside from the free walk. As much as I object to these training techniques, Totilas visually ‘pulled them off’, in a sense. I think that was partly down to his conformation - he was compact with a short thick neck and his self carriage was naturally upright even as a 5 year old. But also because he always looked willing and game, and I can only think that was because he and Gal were a partnership. He didn’t look willing or game in rollkur with Rath. Total US is either very explosive and naturally disengaged, or he’s demonstrating everything that’s wrong with this kind of training. He looks like a caricature :(
