Interesting. Probably done in the spring of 1939. Only months from the start of WW2. I noticed how carefully this travel log has been tightly controlled. Every flagpole has had the Nazi flag removed. There is not a single banner or propaganda poster visible anywhere. Nor anyone in uniform. You could be easily lulled into thinking you are traveling in an idealized Germany of some bygone era.

In Franzensbad: Als man noch richtig lustwandelte. Goethes Spruch 'Man reist ja nicht, um anzukommen, sondern um zu reisen.' hat sich völlig umgekehrt, man kommt aber mit der Bahn noch später an als damals Goethe.

Der Jenaer Marktplatz ist auch nur noch ein Schatten seiner selbst. Vielleicht denken wir ja mal mehr an u n s! Und bauen unsere wunderschönen Städte wieder so auf, wie sie vor dem Krieg waren. Würde mehr Sinn machen, als allen und jedem, der kein Deutsch kann, die Taschen zu stopfen.

Der ADI hat ja auch die Reichsautobahn gebaut 🤣 . Den ersten Spatenstich Frankfurt-Darmstadt vollführte der ADI 😝. Eine Kopie des Spatens hängt im DEUSCHEN MUSEUM in München.Das Original hängt bei mir im PARTYkeller. Unverkäuflich[!].

The car in the video is a 1938 prototype. The bodies were made by Mercedes Benz by Germans. The mechanical parts were all made by Porsche in his workshop in Stuttgart. There wasn't any slave labour used in the construction of the pre-war prototypes.

Although the film was made in 1939, the car in the film was made early in 1938. It is one of about 33 prototypes used for testing. In the months/years after this film was made, this car was wrecked and its engine installed in another car. About 12 years ago, that very engine was discovered in a barn in Austria!

No it isn't. It's the second idea in any given sentence. Basic German grammar. Any second verb, or past participle is at the end of the sentence, and there are many conjunctions which send the verb to the end of a given clause, but your statement is essentially false. Not to mention, totally pointless here.

..clever bit where the man carries fuel can and can't get a ride to next station, then does get one, but hides behind the VW seat to avoid being seen by those in the car ahead, stopped at that station.. He explains to the driver and his passenger in VW, what his game is; hitching rides with all his clothes hidden (here 53:43) inside a dummy fuel can.. And they all laugh and sing a song together as they pass the fuel station and other driver, on by.. (No language captions, so I had to try and guess which words meant what. I'm way out of practice here.) I've forgotten what little German learned in high school, @ 17 y/o and hadn't heard any Deutsch since then, in my 67+ years!🙂
