Len Tran

Okinawan Karate is a martial art system that uses punches, kicks, blocks and strike to subdue an opponent. Karate can be effective for street fighting, competitions, or self-improvement. In these videos, I will show you effective karate applications for these situations.

Whether you train in Shotokan, Shorin-ryu, Euchi-ryu, Goju-ryu, Shito-Ryu, Wado-Ryu, etc...they all shared the same concept of using the body and the mind.

Videos are posted every weekend!

Great explaination. I got exact same conclusion and its what i'm teaching my students. Kihon blocks looks like proper techniques but in reality it's intercepting the punch and deflecting to lateral. Blocking hands drawing a vertical circle in diagonal direction. The lateral movement comes from inward turning the hand in an vortex shape execution.

Well it looks nice but in reality...just look on UFC you cannot see any blocks ..hardly...and this is cancer problem of all martial arts . They do not explain how to really block...Student has to develop muscle memory of block and then use it in sparing otherwise this is deadly trap that cost many people on the street. So Len try to use it in sparing with variety of people , preferable not yours students...and than make video..or even better go to one of the MMA schools and try to have sparing there...otherwise all this knowledge is dead. World Martial art definitely need reset and that will happen in next 20 ,30 years and the rest will be folklore. I have been in martial arts for 40 years and have last 15 my club..and I throw my students into fire of sparing and all knowledge just disappear. We shouldn't ignore speed, anxiety, fear, stamina when to engage into fight , how to avoid it, when to run and how . This has to be thought in school. I witness slaughtering teachers in front of their students because of their ignorance. I wrote to you this because I thing you are able to be good teacher...you have accuracy, speed, mental balance ,spirit so my man....farewell.

I agree with you 100%. There is a difference between practicing versus real street fighting. The reality of street fighting is get to your opponent quick and finish the fight. However, as a martial artist, we need to learn to condition our bodies with moves and reflexes. We need to learn to be both martial artist and fighters. There is a difference between training in these two areas. I would love to do a video and explain my point. Writing is too long. Thank you for your input 🙏

This situation is typical for nerve compression and it is good that you had surgery. But the numbness will most likely remain partially, although you will adapt to it and it will not bother you. Don't get stuck on this, diversify your training for the rats, hand, forearm, shoulder. And I think it will be useful to consult a physical therapist who has experience with athletes

I think there was a line in "The Karate Kid" film ,the theme was , "what's the best defence"? And the answer was along the lines of "don't be there" . Thats what is being taught here, age uke means you're still in front of them, soto ude uke ,or uchi ude uke means you're not there, you've shifted out the line of the attack. "Don't be there".......

I can't help but notice that the blocks and follow-up attacks are mirroring Wing Chun moves, and I'd agree that these are practical since personally that is how I instinctively block, or rather redirect, and counter attacks. The most noticeable similarities for me are your moves in 4:33 . Martial arts indeed is a beauty, and this video showcases the connection of all the arts and its effectivity. Salute and respect to you, Sir.

  • @continuousfist

It all depends on how you understand your box of contact. It doesn’t matter how tall or short your opponent is. What is important is where your opponent will hit you. Remember, you are the target so you should know where your opponent will attack.
