Lorry Diaries

Lorry Diaries

It’s About the Industry Not the Individual

I live in Ross on Wye, a small town in Herefordshire UK. I’m a single Mom to a grown up son and grandmother to 2 wonderful small people who all live in Cornwall.
I’ve been lorry/truck driving for 35+ years. I was taught to drive by my brother, who has since passed away but the knowledge he gave me is in daily use.
Come with me on my journeys around UK and Europe. See what the life of a long distance lorry driver is like. Mostly good, sometimes bad but always an adventure.

You can now by me a coffee too, using the link below.

Hey Johnno hope you’re well. Yes, Spain and Central Europe get very hot and brown in summer, cold in winter. In UK we don’t have such differences in temperatures, we tend to only have 10-15*c difference in the seasons, so rare to be hot and rare to be very cold. Our weather is similar to NZ really, just in different months. 😁

Bit late now but if you have a laptop and inclination in future, if you delete or overwrite something on the SD card, you can use free software called 'Recuva' so scan and retrieve deleted files. Enjoying watching these.

No problems with hearing things twice, great for people watching for the first time, the worst thing someone can do is to do things blindly, always ask, you won't look foolish, you will if you don't. The Brittany ferries desk used to be in a bar area on the left, sad to see all the change! You'd definitely benefit with one of those Insta 360 cameras, if I come across one I'll let you know. I'll never be able to drive again but any new drivers I speak to I'll point them in your direction, so informative, thanks for that!

I try to show practical things as well as the interesting things 😁 Yes things have changed a lot, they’ve built a big new building too, some sort of new passenger area I think but it’s not operating yet. It’s nice to know you enjoy the channel. Take care. 😁

I watch so many videos of driving now, I stopped in 2001, it's changed so much, I'd be lost looking for my old parking places, in Spain, I'd definitely mess up the Mont Blanc tunnel, I'd be asking for advice when I used to give it. I doubled up with this lady often, many watching will probably remember her, Diesel Kate. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aWdsk7uIZabFiNI.htmlsi=OMLiH2iw19Lz6jXR

We got the traffic guy, the truck director, the banksman, a few general dogsbodies, etc!! Reminds me of a line from a skit (I think) on the telly in the 70's. In the US the guy on the ground working with the crane is called the RIGGER because he RIGS the load for the lift. He attaches chains or straps or cables and positions those chains or straps or cables to the exact point of the load so that it will lift level and straight. !

Sherilline, you made me laugh when you were enlightening us about the health and safety person. It takes us back to the time when cars started out on roads. A man walked out in front of the car to warn people to clear the way. In some ways, the old way is the best way!!. Safe travels, Sarah from Tasmania.
