As a former Walmart worker, I know Walmart didn't pay this much several years ago. I doubt they're paying that whatsoever, unless we're talking big "region area" as they call it.

I have found that I got jobs when I went into the interview being myself, being real, being authentic. Rehearsing and doing all these little tricks look fake. Also, here is a tip for interviewers. Stop doing interviews like police interrogations. The interviews I have been successful in have been more like a chat than an interview, and it relaxes you. You come out of your shell and open up, like talking to your friend.. Too many interviewers like to ask "Gotcha" questions and set you up to fail.

I used to work for a company that asked me my religion during my onboarding (after I had already accepted the position and left my previous employer). I said to the HR lady who was asking - she gave me a form to fill out and that question was on it - "is this even legal?" and in the smuggest of tones, she said "only if we ask you before you're hired". I was so upset. I would have walked out immediately except at that point I didn't have any other job. It felt disgusting.

Universities give degrees, colleges only give diplomas, and you won't earn a half million dollars a year with a college diploma, let alone at a Walmart.

In my experience working at walmart, just as a hourly cleaner for them, the pay is (mostly) fair from top to bottom of the ranks for what the work is. What makes or breaks it for people is who you work with/for.

Walmart will not hire you as store manager anywhere near ONE HUNDRED grand let alone FIVE HUNDRED grand. And you certainly aren't getting a job with them like that without having been with them for years on end anyway. -signed guy who had his relative die working part time cashier/door greet for them - at maybe 14$ an hour... no health benefits... a whopping 5k or so in stock/whatever after 15+ years of work oh except she had to quit for her ex husband so before that was another 12-13 years... yeah, really...

I HIGHLY doubt it. Walmart literally is the largest company with the largest amount of workers on welfare. "Up to" is always an indication of a lie. If they pay 90k, they willl say "see, up to 500k".

i worked at walmart in college. the associates managers worked 70 hours a week during holidays and hourly equivalent at that time was around 2$ an hour if they were hourly. So being used and abused by walmart corporate might not be the best option

This is similar to when people heard UPS drivers are gonna be making 170k. They failed to mention a chunk of it includes benefits , stocks , etc. Not to forget to mention you’re gonna need 10+ years exp and competing with others who’ve been there for 20+ years .

The only thing college does is get you into debt if your parents can't support you. If you go to college, the only way to get a return on that investment is going into a field that employers need to fill positions for.

As a word of warning to anyone tempted by Walmart's pay: While yes, Walmart does pay rather well compared to their competition, you will be worked to the bone for that pay. As someone who has worked for them twice can attest, if there's something you can do, they will make you do it, as quickly as possible, and you WILL be multitasking if the managers think it is possible. I have no doubt the role of store manager would be insanely stressful and work intensive. I always remember the managers looking haggard and soulless. Take the job and pay at your own caution.

What does the company gain by not simply speaking the truth? What are they hiding? What are they trying to avoid? Unemployment? I don't understand the point of being shady. Are they breaking a contract? WHAT IS IT? How is someone going to fight to keep a position that no longer exsists? Why not just tell the truth? What am I missing here?

The Walmarts in my area are those dystopian-realty stores you might hear about - one of them actually had a very slow, sliding main door that would make sure to get your features on camera before while opening slowly before you went in. And then they'd use the shopping carts (nested) like a one-way cattle alleyway to make sure every customer would be forced to have their receipts checked...you couldn't just walk past. During the early period of the pandemic, they also had these dull-yellow lights instead of the normal lights to entice people to buy their crap and get out of the store. I'll never forget how bizarre that was while the other stores were just treating their customers like normal humans. I just don't shop there any more. I'll pay 50 cents more for laundry detergent elsewhere...so I won't be helping the manager make his $500k.
