Homesteading City-Style
OUR STORY
We live in the city of LaPlace, 25 miles west of New Orleans, La. We live in 1000 square-foot home and have a city-size lot, about 1/8 acre. Though we desire to move and get more land, for now, we are learning homesteading on a small scale, and how to grow and raise food for our family in the city on a city-size lot. We currently raise quail, chickens, and fish. We grow plenty of veggies in our small area, all in elevated garden beds and containers. We have made many mistakes along the way but we're learning every day how to become more and more self-sufficient. We have 26 fruit trees and 18 berry bushes that provide us with food every year. We currently produce quail and chicken for our consumption. We are always looking for ways to add to our homestead. It's an exciting journey for us and we invite you to tag along and hopefully, together we can learn more. Thanks for subscribing and sharing our videos.

    Thank you, I love fermemtation videos. I feel that most Americans have unhealthy guts, myself included even though I am trying to change that. There is a channel on youtube that is so good about teaching about ferments. The channel is Clean Food Living. You may want to check her out. She even goes over the different fermenting lids and which ones are her favorites. I have a set like the one you are using today. But I am kind of leery about using it because the spring is metal and I do not know how well it will hold up to the acidic environment of a ferment. I have used it once without any ill effects. But you could use the lids with the glass weights instead of the springs. May your ferment be very successful. Take care and God Bless.

    Father God, Hallowed be Thy Name, You are Holy, Righteous and lover of Your man. Father, I come into agreement with Brother Cary and Sister Mindy that the doors will open for them to move forward to find a new property. Father I pray that the property that You choose will fall into place and that they will know that it is Your will for them to move on it. I thank You for what you are doing and what You are about to do in their lives. May Your sweet peace fall upon them mightily. I asked in Jesus' Name. Amen.

    I bought one of these. It's been the worst thermostat I've ever purchased. The difference between the 2 channels are rediclous. One works perfectly the other won't turn off until it hits over 100 plus degrees F.

    My question is it ok if you pick okra and it starts drying can you still give it to the chickens?

  • @HomesteadingCityStyle
    @HomesteadingCityStyle10 ай бұрын

    I believe so - I haven’t done it bc I always pick it and feed it to the chickens before it dries out

    Have you ever saved tomato seeds. I have seen some videos where they put the seeds in water and let them sit for 2 to 3 days. I was just wondering if you have saved any and if so, how did you go about saving them. I do believe we all need to be doing something, like growing vegetables, fruits, etc. But, I think that what we really need to be doing is praying and taking the authority that was granted to us by Jesus Christ our Lord. Our difficulties are coming from strongholds that most do not even know exist. There are 2 things needed at this time, prayer and getting prepared.

    I posted this video to my facebook, I hope it will bring in some new subscribers. I find it amazing that you started talking about dehydration because I have had it on my mind often here lately. If you could give instructions on what or how to combat it, would be very much appreciated. Do all citrus trees have thorns?
