For those 'useful idiots' who still believe that there was a coup in Turkiye in 2016, then consider this:: - in the following 48 hours, HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people were arrested for being part of the plot. Now there is NO WAY Turkish Intelligence could assemble a list like that in anything less than SIX MONTHS. So that list was pre-prepared. One fun fact is that there were people who were to be arrested post-coup who had DIED months before! - any high-ranking military, police, judicial, academic, and public servants who were deemed a 'threat' to Erdogan's power then or in the future were thus arrested in that post coup witch hunt. - is it a coincidence that this supposed coup attempt was then used by Erdogan to give himself even more DICTATORIAL powers? - every other coup in Turkiye's history was staged on a late Sunday night/early hours of Monday morning, so that there would be minimal or no disruption to everyday life. People would just wake up on Monday morning to a new situation. Yet in 2016 the 'plotters' staged their coup on a Friday night during peak hour in Istanbul to cause maximum disruption, and thus convince ordinary Turks to hate the 'plotters' for the inconvenience. - every other coup in Turkiye's history had the military seize the leader of the country at those times as their number one priority. Yet as David notes, in 2016 they seemed to have forgotten how to do that properly! The 'coup' of 2016 was a False Flag event, designed to give the Dictator more power, and he made sure he got it. That power has since been used to not only to silence/jail/kill his political enemies and investigative journalists, but also has been used to enrich his (donor) benefactors in the construction industry with his direct interference in the Central bank and its decisions. Meanwhile, the 'cheap' money which then flowed into constructing Mosques no one wanted, another international airport in Istanbul that no one wanted, and condominiums and apartment skyscrapers that no one wanted (in a city that's just waiting for the 'big one' earthquake) has been great for the wealthy backers of Erdogan - for the other 90% of Turkiye's population, not so much. Turkish working class people can't afford rent, bread, or the basics of life. Turkiye is on its knees. And thanks to the last rigged/corrupt election, will remain so until the Turkish people rise up in a REAL coup d'état.
So many things to like here. The framing of human error in dangerous conditions strikes me as useful in daily life as well as wonky technical management systems (ISO9000, etc). This would have been a powerful example when I was working with managers and engineers to systemically reduce waste/risk. Dr. Edward Deming said : "without theory we are lost" and I appreciate how your book aligns with The Profound Knowledge Of Systems. Deming said that as well. One last Deming quip I I used while problem solving, that think you'll like "if people didn't make mistakes, there would be no mistakes".

I dislike presentations like this. They’re ubiquitous. They dwell on the negative. Kissinger is a worthy punching bag for these type of people. All they see is mistakes by some people while ignoring others. Nixon and Kissinger got this war after 2 presidents and many deployments. The U.S. position in the world can’t be bought. Our enemies are much like these presenters. They criticize and attack whatever they can, when they can. I’m sure Nixon and Kissinger didn’t want the war. They did t ask for it. Once in it they had to deal with it. It would be easy for any politician to stop what others started. To walk out and leave the south Vietnamese to die. It’s ironic that in today’s world we fret over the weak the helpless. We don’t want them to be butchered. Nixon wanted the South to take over and fight for themselves. But congress cut the funding. The message is we shouldn’t have even tried to save south Vietnam. We should have sent them some money and once they were over ran, cut them lose. Who’s next?

First argument Bernard makes: In the west: the State and the Church are two SEPARATE institutions. Second argument Bernard makes: The Church is a building and an institution with ITS OWN LAWS, CUSTOMS, OWN HISTORY AND PERSONNEL. (as in Independent of the State) Third argument, based on the first two: the Mosque is not an institution. The Mosque is a PART of Islam: it's a building that has Islamic Laws, Rules, Customs etc. He literally says before he makes that point "IN THAT SENSE..." referring to his two previous arguments. People are responding that he's ignorant and that he doesn't know what he's talking about, when they literally prove within their points that he is indeed correct. Islam from its birth had legal backing and state power behind it, whereas the Church didn't in the West, which is why it developed separately from it. The Mosque doesn't exist independent of Islam, but exists because of it.
