We had a home warranty and were disappointed. All the service techs were dispatched from over an hour away and we were not able to develop relationships with more local repair companies. It made no sense to send someone 60 miles to repair a dishwasher when there were 10 companies within the zip code......
I'm so glad HOA are an American thing but in Australia we pay land rates to the local Council that trim trees on footpaths, maintain pathways & maintain roadways, give us a Swimming pool/ Sports Facility to use maintain a local park that has BBQ area & playground for kids they also do weekly Garbage & bi weekly recycle/Green waste pickup for bins, once a year we get a 10 cubic foot skip for bulky trash a yearly Green waste removal service for pruned branches, they can never put a lien on our House or take it over. So I'm kind of confused you pay land rates to your local Council & then have to pay HOA fees on top of that ??? For context I've only ever seen 1 HOA in Australia & that was for a suburb that dissolved after about 2 years because the Local Council was doing everything anyway & the HOA didn't add anything that isn't provided already after listening to you explain the American HOA they kind of sound like a Scam a way to suck money out of you for doing what the Local Council does already as I said I'm confused as to what HOA do besides enforce rules
