Like a never ending water polo match. We are on day FIVE with 107 fish in the pond. . . Any ideas on how to clear the water afterward ? It was crystal clear and is now filthy.
Neighbor has used a. Ionizer for years in his koi pond with no issues to fish or plants
Thank you, Mike, for these informative videos!
How does it look like today, is it dent asf as i think? AM I RIGHT?
It looks the same as the day we installed it
Thanks to your recommendations I am currently installing rainbird drip for my new lawn. I had rainbird draw up the plans for a minimal cost. My only question is, how do we determine how long to run the system? I'm in southern california not too far from you. Any help would be appreciated
A minimum of 30 minutes every other day
Do you put a clean out and the pressure relief valve on the system that runs underneath the mulch? Thanks
Yes
Do you know how reliable this is long term and what the max psi and water flow rate is? Can a T be fitted to each connection point? Thanks.
We have systems for n the ground for over 15 years and they are doing great. The psi and the flow rate is taken care of for you when you install the rain bird valve with the pressure regulator
Beautifully designed garden 😍
What kind of grass do you recommend if you're starting from scratch in this situation?
Native mow free lawn
Yard looks like 💩
I’m in Los Angeles. I’m looking for grass that is drought tolerant but also pet friendly. Could you make recommendations?
Try Carex Pansa
What is the maximum length for a section of tube? I don't think you can use all 100 meters with just one water source.
In the USA, you can install approx 330 feet per 3/4 inch valve
Please show us the process on how to install the drip irrigation
How many zones for that portion of lawn? Is one enough?
Yes
Where do you buy the seeds? What’s the name for it?
It only comes in sod form and available from Delta Blue Grass, ask for the “Native Mow Free Lawn”
I cam across your channel looking for local chicken farms in Los Angeles. I was wondering if you still have your chickens. I’m looking for somewhere other than a grocery store to get eggs.
Sorry. I had chickens for 15 years, then I turned vegan
@@EnviroscapeLA-SustainabilityJust curious, why’d you go vegan??
I went to Tony Robbins “Unleash the Power Within” event and he had a day devoted to heath and wellness. He showed the science behind why a plant based lifestyle is healthier and I friend it and after 2 weeks, my cholesterol dropped significantly and my weight dropped and I felt incredibly energetic.
Our examples DO MA'ATER Thank YOU TEAM Mike❤️🩹💛👣
Screw your manicured lawns
I love it, but I was expecting a cat IN a pond. This is a sleeping cat AND a pond. Still, beautiful and relaxing. ❤️🐾
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful pond. Beautiful fish
Thank you very much!
Thanks! Really great idea!!
mine was torched this summer :( is there seed available for reseeding this fall ?
Local garden centers carry marathon seed
I did a six foot by 6 foot experiment ten years ago, I removed the Lawn plus six inches of soil, laid down a fabric mesh, them put the soil back, then the grass, and for that year that area used way less water. The roots intertwine in the mesh, creating a sponge like effect. I then did the whole lawn but added drip irrigation just on top of the fabric, then soil then grass, way way less water.
Very nice!
Okay, my only question is if this is supposed to be a natural dry creek bed, why does it have to look professional? A little unevenness makes it look more natural. Am I not correct on that or am I not correct on that? I'm just saying I thought you wanted to go search something that looked like it just was there not look like somebody planned it. That's the whole point. I thought of a dry creek bed
The problem is.....many buy a pile of rocks and dump them on a the ground. This doesn't look very nice because you don't find this in nature. You do find similar looking rock arrangements as shown in the video
@@EnviroscapeLA-Sustainability I was just wondering mostly. I did something for my mother. Only the rocks do not look bad The only thing is she wanted one rock then some others ones that really do not go together only the colors look almost alike.
Hope the yard doesn't need aeration in the future.
The drip irrigation gets filled with air when not in use. When the system turns on, all the air is released into the plant materials
What part is the clean out called? I am new to this and I need to see names and or part numbers so I can get them for my Rainbird subsurface drip irrigation. Thanks.
The clean out is not a -art, it is the end of the line which is folded over. This end is unfolded once a year in order to allow residual debris to pass through, then it is closed up again. We typically use a figure 8 to keep the folded drip line in place.
Heaven
koi pretty colors
Grow carob trees they are native to California, I could be wrong.
Is this similar to the UC Verse grass (Buffalo grass) hybrid? Awesome here in Burbank, excellent in clay soils as well.
Yes, however, it does not lose its color in the winter
I am a small elderly 5ft 4in will the slammer too long and too heavy for me to plunge into to the soil??
yes
The original slammer tool shown here is 12kg, or 26.45 pounds. There is a smaller version called the Slammer Mini which is only 9kg or 19.82 pounds.
Thank you for sharing this. I reverse my diabetes, no more poking and pills.Gotta eat healthy.
So happy for you!
The pond looks so clean. Thank you for these videos. I’ve been trying to figure out if you can combine aquaponics and aeroponics
Yes you can. I’ve done videos on this before
Thank you for this video I was looking for videos on doing this. Trying to make a build with a hydroponic setup for germination with aeroponic for adult plants
Thank you
super cool!
Thank you
wow! blast from the past!
Thank you
Why is my window not getting cloudy hen doing a backwash
Not sure
@@EnviroscapeLA-Sustainability I think I figured it out, the bottom gravel filter became clogged, and was only sucking from the skimmer, so only water from the top, I unclogged the bottom gravel filter and now it’s more clear inside the pond and the backwashes look normal
That’s brilliant! I’m thinking of running a soaker hose though raised beds and now I’m thinking of also running a drain pipe to recycle too. Cool idea
That's a great idea!
Nice
Thanks
I would like to see the update.
I've made many videos on this since posting this video
Started using Buckwheat noodles and that doesn’t give me a sugar spike.
Excellent
we miss you!
What size is the pond and what size is that filter looks like a small 2000 gallon bead?
1000 gallons
It would be nice to see the final result.
posted it a week later
@@EnviroscapeLA-Sustainability Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find it.

@@EnviroscapeLA-Sustainability Very nice. I like the way you simulated the flow of water. That was 5 years ago. Have you done a follow up video?
What machine is that?
A trenching machine
How about giving credit to the aztec ancestors who started this system hundreds of years ago? Chinampas.
Actually, the aztecs had floating islands, not made of PVC
Of course! That’s not the point. Aquaponics was inspired by Chinampas. It’s ok though.
Great process. Question: which irrigation tube do you recommend for this? Also, how many inches below the sod will the irrigation need to be in order to feed the grass adequately?
I recommend the Rain Bird Copper Shield drip @ 12 inch spacing @ .6 gph and we install the lines only 2 inches below the surface.
You want to come down to San Diego and install one for me?
Would love to, but I live too far away.
That is the coolest machine - is that custom?
It's a common trenching machine
