Welcome everyone to my Retro gaming KZread and podcast channel.
Retrospectives will come out once a month and will cover some huge Retro titles.
The podcast is where each week, me and friend talk about the video games we used to play back as kids.
I look at games from across the generations and give my honest thoughts on them. Sometimes I like them, sometimes I don't, sometimes, I will have my mind changed.
Aside from a new game each week, we also have a letter section, a look at the news, stick it up your Jinjo and Survive or Die!!
New episodes come out every Sunday.
We also have a Patreon, where for $1 each month you access to an additional show called, DLC. As well as being able to submit comments on all of our shows and games.

I love The Adventure of Zelda
hahaha i was waiting for that. I heard it back...and went.....meh...
@@RetroWarsuk you know what? I don't care what you call it you did an excellent job on the video. I enjoy your content very much and I did subscribe. :-)
@@KBXband thank you. Next video is being done now. If you want more stupidity listen to the podcast
Made me want to replay the game, great vid!
Thanks a lot, I'm glad you enjoyed it
Fantastic Retrospective, I loved your narration style and pacing. You got me through a 5 hour car ride!!
Don't listen to the podcast episodes then, I may make your ears bleed
So I wasn't alone afterall thinking those cave entrances looked pretty much like sea shells. Great vid btw.
Thank you very much, welcome to my little club
I did call the ring Billy Bob.
Billy Bob Thornton himself on the prowl
It is easily the most polarising game in the Playstation trio, if not the entire series. If you asked most fans to rank their favourite games eight would be either right at the top or near the bottom. It is also the biggest black sheep and departure from style until FFX-2 came along a handful of years later.
Yeh I would agree, it is definitely polarising. I am not sure where I would put it.
oh man... the dual wield, counter paladin with knight swords combo was always my end game set on Marche
YES :D
At release the thing that made me hate it was the world leveling with you. Dumbest possible thing you can do in an RPG imo. I still hate it for that but after platinuming it I hate it for the non sense story. I hate squad for turning down quistis when she was dtf.
Quistis gave me....I need an adult vibes
Ff7 is the not the best game of all time. SNES FF3 is. FF8 is definitely the underdog of the franchise for exactly the reasons you said. FF7 is what blew the franchise up and a lot of it has to do with the new console of the playstation and most people didnt play FF until the release of 7 and like you, many also thought that the rest of the FF games would be some kind of sequal to FF7 and as much hype FF7 brought to the franchise, FF8 would undoubtedly live in the shadows of FF7, especially when all you've known before was FF7 and its combat system. Now you get FF8 with different characters and a different combat system and its unfamiliar to y'all so many look down on the game, but for players like me that started since NES FF1, we already knew it wasnt going to be the same characters, but the newest thing for us was also the combat system with using materias and how you can make any of your characters pretty much be any class. I always knew that FF8 was never going to outshine FF7, but IMO it did its job. FF8 is totally underrated and is the underdog of the franchise.
7 is the best :P I will fight everyone
cause all bestiarys level system
Great game!!! ❤❤❤👍👍👍
The best!
No lie. 1999 I traded 3 uncommon cards and three hollow graphic cards for Pokémon blue and a Gameboy! Greatest trade ever!!!
Unless one of them was charizard :(
Loved this!
I still love it :D
@@RetroWarsuk I meant your video, you do well Retro Warsuk ✊️
@@yqafree thank you. I just try to provide people with a laugh for the day
oh my god man, despite how popular of a meme it was, it has been years since I've seen the intervention former boxer wail of despair lol
I will steal it at any possibility
I think its pretty clear but is not so much about her being a seagull but more like her wanting to be free cause she knew she will disappear, she knew about the island and she knew it was the only way for link to escape. All she wanted was freedom which was impossible because she was nothing more than a part of the wind fish's dream but then her dream came true and was able to exist outside of the fish's dream. seagulls (birds in general) are known as a symbol of freedom
IT STILL HURTS DAMMIT
Fuck I was just going to replay this
What is stopping you my friend?
I don't care what anyone else says, THIS is the best 2d Zelda.
I agree, I may go and play it again now
Which do you prefer, the original or remake?
@@BostonBugsy Haven't played the remake yet, but I do think it looks fantastic.
@@coltonowens2742 Oh cool, you're in for a treat! They did a fantastic job with it!
Don't need a 3080 RTX or a 12th Gen Intel, just a few Mhz and some love.
THIS.....THIS
WH Smiths hasn't gone
It hasn't no....but it is not what it was. We had a 2 floor one growing up.....it was my entertainment section along with woolworths :(
I have links Awakening for the Nintendo switch and I had no idea that it was a remake for a 1990's Gameboy color game.
Play the original on the NSO. It is a blast
@@RetroWarsuk definitely going to have to try that out. Zelda has always been such a cool game. I just recently fell in love with breath of the wild but man what a hard game.
i rarely recommend playing remakes of games, but the switch remake is honestly amazing. i highly recommend it. This was one of my favorite gameboy games growing up.
The remake was great, they really did a good job with it
My absolute favourite game. ❤
It is just beautiful
I saw 30 min and thought, "Ah, this must be a intro to the retrospective" ha know, because it isn't 8 hours 34 minutes long.
I think my mind would melt making it that long
Not liking or subscribing for the Chikorita persecution.
The GB version of this game is probably my 3rd favorite Zelda game. I remember when I first played links awakening I was very sad about how the game ended. Also Marin is the best girl 😭
It cuts you to your soul
Damn I’m getting old, have very fond memories playing this as a kid. One of my favourite games ever. The remake as switch is excellent as well
switch remake was a banger
I feel you. Zelda is what made me a gamer. Specifically a link to the past. I played games for years before that but that's when I got hooked. I remember borrowing links awakening from my cousin after finding out it existed from her and keeping it for many months until I beat it and gave it back to her. Games like this took time without access to the Internet back then. Ahhhh... the good ol' days lol. Oh God!!! I am old now. I'm repeating phrases from my dad at the tender age of 36!!!! Anyways.. I got to grow up in the golden age of gaming imo
Same here! One of the first games I remember really getting lost in playing, once I was old enough to play coherently. Formative af to baby me
I always pick charmander because it makes the game the hardest, having a terrible matchup against the first three gyms I named it pepper :)
I really like that name
8 was my first Final Fantasy game. I thought that it was badly translated, but I didn't care really. I spent over 90 hours grinding it from start to finish - get everyone to level 99, give them best weapons, make best builds to complement one another and kill Omega Weapon. I did all that and boy I love this game. It's janky as hell, the amnesia part is not as bad as it could be if you have perception higher than piece of bread and read the signs and dialogue with NPCs - they will foreshadow it long before the actual story will put a big exclamation mark on this point.
yeh the teachers kind of hint about it
Call Griever First Aid so Ultimecia says "First Aid, make them bleed!"
@@ronnielasvegas8524the possibilities are endless with that one
I first heard about Pokémon from the back of a Lunchables box. There were cutout collectibles on the box and a friend and I sat under a tree on the playground, in the middle of summer taking them off and talking about how cool each one looked. The first Pokémon I ever remember seeing was Geodude. After that, all my friends had the games and the cards etc. It wasn't until Christmas the next year when I finally got Blue
I would have bitten my arm off by then
i watched the anime before i owned the games. had to go charmander cause of his backstory. (i hadn't watched the squirtle squad episode yet)
that was a gut wrenching episode
My personal favorite FF game of all time together with 8. Yuna is arguably the best written female character in all of fiction. The world and lore of this game is INSANE. And it's so enjoyable! I still launch it just to play blitzball once in a while, or to fight some tough monsters. Love it to death!!
Of all fiction....that....that is big claim
And if he fails..... *YOU CAN ALWAYS HIT THE RESET BUTTON!*
@@haywoodjablowme6075 NEVER
When I booted up the Remake for the first time, I nearly teared up. When that FF VII logo (and the bass) dropped, I was like “I’m home.”
I know how you feel. I had to tell my mother in law to leave the house so she didnt disturb me
To be fair, Tifa drew most teenage boys in at that time 🤣
@@MikeKat11 no idea why
@@RetroWarsukit’s always been a mystery
At least it’s not STAB 😂 33:46
God the STAB....I forgot to mention that
This game made me realize I don't really like JRPGs. I was blown away by the game at first, but when I realized there was no world map and the game was on rails I started hating it. Even the games with world maps are basically on rails with the illusion of freedom and I don't like that anymore now that I've played games like boulders gate and fall out. I kind of despise these games now because it's just excessive fashion and swords that look like they what a toddler thinks would kill a dragon. These games were good back when they were pushing the boundaries of RPGs, but I try and play them now and I'm bored to hell. The stories aren't all that great and they are extremely easy.
@@wingusdingus9447 I just played Bucky o hare for the podcast....man oh man ...NES hard
The reveal of how Edea got her powers, and how SeeD was started was so stupid to me that I uninstalled the game in the middle of the ending lol. There’s no character development outside of Squall, and his arc is basically just Cloud’s arc from ff7, but less interesting. You know next to nothing about the villain, she gets introduced in the third act, and has a big spooky castle. All you know about her is that she’s powerful, and she’s mean. lol. Laguna is a big stupid himbo who SOMEHOW subdues a massively powerful sorceress with her own army behind her, and SOMEHOW he put her in a big space prison. You’re telling me Esthar elected Laguna as President? Gimme a break. Some good ideas, but it’s pretty stupid. What even ARE Guardian Forces? Why is Balamb the only garden that uses them? Why do they use them, if they are known to cause extreme memory loss? Why are you told in the beginning to ignore what other people say about said memory loss? Why is Balamb not telling their cadets about that, even denying that it exists? The answer is there is no reason, the only time they bring it up is for that idiotic reveal about the orphanage. So you have your elite mercenary force kitted out with weapons that cause them to lose their memory? Why would anyone do that? Lolol.
Yeh I always thought that, here equip these...why....don't ask....you won't remember
I picked Charmander and named him Charmeleon cause Charmeleon was my first pokemon card that I got for free from Nintendo Power.
Imagine if they were giving out Charizards
I really liked Final Fantasy 8, tbh. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the junction system. Even then, though, it's not that bad.
The junction system was madness but the card system was broken
I got told by my friends who owned 3DS's that this game was the reason that they now always pick green mario in all subsiquent mario titles. Gave the thin lad alot of personality and likabilty. Always loved the look of the year of luigi 3DS as well.
Oh yeh I remember the year of luigi. Bless his little heart
I loved this game on the 3ds, even more than the original, cant wait to pick it up for the switch.
It certainly is a solid title
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO ALSO CANT STAND AERITH!
Let her burn
spoilers but the whole way yuna ends sin from being reborn is a crazy chance if auron didnt die that soon, tidus wouldnt have been brought to spira if seymour didnt kill his dad at that time, they wouldnt have questioned the traditions of yevon if the aurochs won a few games wakka may have not been that interested in befriending tidus cuz that mf dont look like chappu if everything wasnt a checkovs gun/ work of fiction yuna woulda just sacrificed her life and tidus woulda continued to have a semi normal immigrant life until ultimately killed by sin
Huge gamble....... beyond belief
Worse sequel. The level curve is very poorly adjusted (especially in Kanto, where almost all Kanto leaders are at the same level) and half-empty Kanto doesn't make up for how small Johto is (and the lack of dungeons compared to original Kanto).
Yeh the level curve is a bit of a mess. The worst sequel though? Nah, they could have just done Johto and we would have been happy
When the active box is full you still have to change the box in order to catch Pokémon. Billl calls you and tells you when your box is full. From Ruby & Sapphire onwards you don't have to change the box.
If I see Bill, I am gonna slap him
Its 20 bucks at least
Free for which platform?
Free from the shackles of the past
Charmander and his name was Charzilla
Charzilla could kill all men
