Hmmm a basement full of waxworks of serial killers….. even this true crime fan would have a hard pass for that one 😂
This show had one of the greatest intros of all time. Eerie and macabre, it really set the tone for the show while paying homage to the original. Night Crawlers was the episode that stuck with me the most. The pacing and atmosphere make it a perfect otherworldly tale.
Didn't they have one with Nazis in Draculas castle or was that another show
No you are correct, that was a NG segment as well. Pretty interesting one too.
@@FeverDreamlandTheater what was the name of that one ive been dying to watch it thanks
The opening titles and music scared the hell out of me as a kid. Channel 13 KCOP Los Angeles on Saturday nights.
there was one where a girl opens an attic door and see a winter scene. any ideas?
Always in the mood for a good twilight zone special this was good! Reminds me of Johnny Depp in Secret Window.
This is my favorite twilight zone episode
Hey, cool, I'm glad to hear this is a favorite for some fans, I've always thought it was overlooked a bit.
This was an excellent show.
This is the only season of Twilight Zone I am not familiar with. This looks like a great episode. Now im going to watch this season. Thank you for this video!!!
Hey wassup DD! Hope you enjoy it! Thank for checking in! : )
I've seen 1 or 2 of the season 4 episodes. The hour long format often leaves the story struggling to justify the additional runtime which was the Jordan peele reboots main problem.
Hey NCT! Oh no doubt, the half hour format was the best for TZ. To me, the hour long format worked in this case, but I could see others thinking it's slow.
@@FeverDreamlandTheater I don’t mind slow. Breaking Bad often is slow but when the plot or story isn’t being advanced the screen time is filled with a lot of solid character development. Obviously it’s not fair to compare these two shows directly, but slow doesn’t necessarily mean boring or bad. Back in the 60s acting and storytelling was different so that screen time isn’t being utilized effectively, in my armchair film auteurs opinion.
An excellent review of quite possibly my favorite season 4 episode.
Hey Adorkable! Thanks for checking in. Yeah for me this is also in the top tier for season 4.
Another excellent video. I feel like you actually have a love for and understanding of these episodes. Thank you.
Wow, thanks Grumpy Old Wizard! Much appreciated. I do my best tackling these, but I'm also still learning along the way too. Have a good one!
This episode is super creepy, especially the lighting on the wax figures, very unsettling. Great episode to cover Anthony 👏
Cirespeed! Wassup man! Hope you have been well. No doubt the creep factor in this one was very high, lol. On a side-note, I've been a little behind on Star Wars lately, looking forward to dipping back into that area.
I watched until you revealed the twist. I’ll check this Zone episode out. Balsam was great in Psycho. This reminds me I’ve never seen taking of Pelham. He was in that. Gonna watch that. I recently enjoyed the Zone ep Shatterday starring Bruce Willis. Awesome vid, amigo! 🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hey Max, thanks for checking in as always man! Much appreciated! Shatterday with Bruce Willis! Great way to kickstart that new series. Thanks for the kind words have a good one bro!
i'm so glad i found your channel! ive been looking for one exactly like this. thanks youtube, for reading my mind! so excited to binge everything :)
Hey Ashley, happy to have you here! Hope you are enjoying the vids and stay tuned for more!
”The Cemetary” was an early childhood memory when shown in Sweden in the early seventies. I only found it recently, confused about what the source was. Nobody seemed to know. This series wasn’t shown regurarly back then.
You probably already know my feelings about Season 4. It has a bad rep, but there are some really solid episodes in there. And this was another most excellent review. Great background info too. I didn't know about the ghostwriting. And a "Man from Planet X" reference? Good job, good sir. Good job.
Ha ha, I knew you would catch 'Man from Planet X' reference! I couldn't pass up the chance on that one. 😁 Yeah man season 4 is a mixed bag for sure. This will probably be the last one I'll do from there for a while, but this one I enjoyed. Have a nice week ahead!
@@FeverDreamlandTheater Do you find that the Season 4 episodes get less views?
Always liked this series. Rod Serling was the best.
FINALLY, A NEW UPLOAD!!! One of the best of the hour-long episodes! I wonder what would've happened if say Martin's boss said that aside from finding a buyer of the wax dummies, he also would recommend Martin as the museum tour guide overseas?? What could've been...
Oh this episode certainly has a "What could've been..." feel. As much as I dug it, I also love your idea as a further twist, that would have added to the tragedy.
@@FeverDreamlandTheater then he would've gotten away from the scene of the crimes with the bodies buried as he left the country!
I've always found this one creepy. One of the best hour-longs.
The New Exhibit. I have ... mixed feelings about this one. For one thing, it's too long and we're just waiting for the wax figures to murder the supporting cast and set up where Serling was going with his intro. For another, it's just not framed very well. SPOILER ALERT.... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. If the story was setting up that MARTIN actually killed everyone, it failed since the wax figures are clearly shown committing the murders. My theory was that was the point. The wax figures DID murder everyone, and then they drove Martin crazy by telling Martin that HE was actually the murderer. It just doesn't work as it should have. And the real murderers get away with yet another crime on their records, but no one will ever know since they gave full credit to someone else. That said, it's still Martin Balsam, and he does sell the character, even if the logic of the episode falls apart long before the halfway point. It is interesting to see Balsam play the unstable murderer for a change. But, consider -- Martin Senescu is already somewhat disturbed at the start of the story, and it would have been quite appropriate if Martin had fantasized that the wax figures are protecting Martin by murdering all who threatened them. But, if they had filmed the murders keeping the wax figures obscured to lead to the suggestion that it MIGHT have been Martin, the episode might have worked better. And the episode IS too long. There are just enough characters so we can get a murder every ten minutes and have enough material to cover a 50 minute episode. But the effort to get the victims one by one into the cellar shows, and it is just too much. The episode as aired is not bad, but it would have been so much better if they had put more thought into the setup. Fun fact: Martin's wife Emma is played by Maggie Mahoney, alias Margaret Field, the mother of Sally Field. She married Jock Mahoney, stuntman and star of Yancy Derringer. Sally was born from a previous marriage.
I hear you Kali. I like your idea about showing the murders but keeping the wax figures obscured to lead to the suggestion that it might have been Martin. I agreed, the episode might have worked better that way. Or at least not felt quite as unfair in hindsight. I also wonder if maybe some quick flashes of Martin literally doing the murders at the end in place of the wax figures aslo may have worked. It still mostly worked for me, but I totally get the mixed feelings. Much thanks as always for checking in! Always a pleasure, be well!
Fantastic vid FDT. Sounds like a great episode to me.
Hey Biz, hope you've been well man. Thanks for checking in! Have a good one!
Anthony, glad to see this latest one, but unfortunately don't have much to say about the episode but that it's creepy good. I will note that the knife in Jack's hand is real and that the button/switch on the platform works...at least for the first murder, could his poor wife have simply stepped on the device and accidentally got herself killed? It's a sign that he's losing it, that he is more inclined to believe in a waxwork come to life than an accident moving a simple animatronic that he well knows can be triggered by the push/step of a button... I wonder how they explained Martin's death, since clearly the old boss didn't kill anyone...was Martin crazy and sent to the electric chair only thinking the wax figures attacked him, so he and we have no pov after the zurg rush? Ah well. Just me rambling. Keep up the great work, and stay hydrated, another heat dome over the tri-state area tomorrow around the high nineties, even 100 or so. Stay safe!
"I wonder how they explained Martin's death, since clearly the old boss didn't kill anyone...was Martin crazy and sent to the electric chair only thinking the wax figures attacked him, so he and we have no pov after the zurg rush? " That is the most unclear part to me too. I can chalk up inconsistencies to his delusions but beyond that, it does become muddy. lol Thanks as always Marie! Have a nice week ahead. : )
Thank you for your work not many people cover these old shows❤
My pleasure, I'm actually happy there's so many more episodes to explore. Thanks dbrooks!
Another superb review by the modern Rod Serling....very creepy episode.
Hey Patrick, thanks, I appreciate the kind words! Have a great week ahead man. 👊
@@FeverDreamlandTheater This is one of best true horror episodes in the series. Wax figures are a very effective as many people are freaked out by them
Yo, what's up FDT! I know Season 4 of the Twilight Zone is divisive among fans, but this is hands down my favorite season 4 episode. I feel like if there's ever a museum of modern serial killers there'd be wax figures of Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Jeffrey Dahmer and the Zodiac Killer. Speaking of which the way Martin obsesses over the wax figurines is very unsettling because it reminds me how people admire serial killers to the point of being a fan. I study serial killers not because I condone what they've done, but to understand their backgrounds, psychology and motivations to kill. Another brilliant review!
Hey wassup Charles. That reminds me, I have not been to Chamber of Horrors in Madame Tussauds for some time. I know they have several wax figures of killers there including Jack the Ripper. The ones you noted seem fitting for that category as well. Thanks as always for watching, have a great week ahead man!
Great job. This is a fantastic episode. The wax figures were really creepy when I was a kid.
Hey Joe, fellow TZ dweller! Thanks for checking in man. I see you working your way through the series and I'm looking forward to hearing your take on this one...and others from season 4. It was such an oddball season for the show. Be well bro!
@@FeverDreamlandTheater As always, thank you for the kind and motivating thoughts. It's a bit of a ways off, but I am, dare I say, excited for season 4. I really enjoy quite a few of them. And thanks for putting these great episodes out there and keeping us all engaged and continually thinking about the episodes beyond the plot. I love the Norman Bates connection you make. I hadn't considered that before. It's a great angle for approaching Martin.
Thanks I really enjoy your videos
Hey Rick! Thanks, glad to hear it! Stay tuned for more from the 5th dimension.
Yay!!! You’ve made me so happy!! This is one of my favorite episodes! This episode is actually the first episode that my fiancé and I watched together. My fiancé was familiar with my love of true crime (I listen to podcasts about true crime to help fall asleep) but as we watched the episode, I was fighting to keep from sharing cool facts I had learned about these killers. But he noticed the excitement on my face and joked “Maybe I should go through your mail. Don’t want to see a hefty insurance policy with you as the beneficiary and me as the victim.” It was such a fun memory.
Ha ha, well true crime is a fascinating topic, so I hear you on that. When I was researching for this one, I went down the rabbit hole on some of the other killers noted in this episode and had to get back on track. lol Thanks Janey, have a great week ahead!
Im Glad when you hit the Algorithm Yeah
🔥🔥🔥🔥 another banger as usual
Hey supaset!
Thanks for bringing some attention to one of my favourite episodes! 😁
No prob! Thanks for watching!
I really liked this one. It felt great and it's pace was very well done. I had no problem with the reveal, personally.
Martin is not the villain, the statues were. It's the "twist", they were alive all along. Martin loved his boss, it's why he finally snaps. And he comes out of his denial and realizes that these things were evil incarnated.
That's how I've seen others interpret this as well. I'm actually very curious to see how others feel about the twists and turns in this one. Thanks hymnsarebeautiful!
I always felt both sorry and a bit unnerved by Martin, how some people sympathize/rationalize with not-so-great people (to put it mildly). Like his passion is admirable but goes too far with covering up the figures' deeds. Also agreed with the figures being "alive" being a delusion, that makes sense logically. I liked that connection to Psycho as well! Another great vid! Bravo! ❤
Hey dowsingelf77! I agree about Martin, you can sympathize with him a little initially but once he starts covering up the heinous crimes, he goes too far. And since it is suggested, he's actually doing the deeds too, that makes it all the more horrific. My idea of the inconsistencies being part of his delusion is the best way I can explain some of the stuff here. ha ha. Thanks as always for checking in & for the kind words! Have a good one!
Feva! Another classic and one of the best from season 4. Martin Balsam was a beast no matter what did. I like to think this gave birth to Wax Work lol always a pleasure thanks for the video. Enjoy your week bro. See you next time
Luke! I agree about Balsam, watching him here put me in a mood to check out '12 Angry Men' or one of the other movies he appeared in. This was at least one of the earlier shows to delve into the wax killers thing. It's such a creepy concept and makes for perfect horror. Thanks for checking in as always man, have a great week ahead! 🤜🤛
I love this episode!
Hey good to hear, always glad to cover the favorites from fellow TZ fans.
How about the Dj with Artie Johnson
Does anyone know what year Rod Serling died ? Did he have children and grandchildren ? Please post the answer in the comments section.
Well, THIS one wasn't GROUNDBREAKING and GAME CHANGING like the original was in it's day, no. It's pretty much like any other horror movie of it's era (late 80s slash early 90s). But it's pretty decent as REMAKES go, yeah.
There was an episode that had a pile of living/moving trash that had friended a little girl. At least that's how I remember it. That one haunted me for a long time and I've thought of it occasionally over the years. Does this ring a bell?
It sure does, especially since I've recently rewatched the show for this vid and that one stood out. I believe the segment you are talking about was called 'Brenda' it was about a little girl who found a weird creature in the woods.
@@FeverDreamlandTheater seems like they covered it with rocks to "get rid of it". And yet it was still alive. When it moved you could hear swishing sounds. I'll see if I can stream it... or wait... maybe I don't want to? Ha! Still too scary. lol. Thank you for responding.
It is here NOW (2024)

I dont remember the name of the episode, but it starred Joan Crawford as a blind woman who purchased the eye corneas of a hobo.
The Painted Mirror episode stuck with me all these years. Where all the paintings used in the shows ended up is the subject of a video I saw here on KZread recently...
Loved these. Part of my childhood ❤
"Wordplay", "The Misfortune Cookie"
My number seven episode of TZ. Chilling performances by both major actors. I don't know if being Jewish affects someone's perspective, though. As a (black) woman said once "everyone has had his or her own holocaust" as bestial as it is. Move on as best you can. Don't let bitterness destroy you. Trust in God❤
I absolutely loved Night Gallery!!❤ It should've went 3 or 4 more seasons.
That would have been awesome! There were lots more stories to adapt that could have been fun or even original ones as well.
