I loved the Tidal Wave. I was very fortunate to grow up right by Marriott's Great America and go all the time. Remember when the Demon was the Turn of The Century? Then they renamed it the Demon and used to play the song while you were waiting in line? I miss those days. Thank you for posting this video!!!

I remember when this happened, back in the Spring of 1984. I loved the Air Racer, it was HUGE and a sight to behold when in action!! It stood where Acrophobia now stands, which possibly uses the original tower. The Sky Screamer now accomplishes the purpose that this ride once served.

The Excalibur seemed to be much more longer gunner than Serial Thriller which i also miss so much too as my first always starter coaster! Only went to astroworld from 1999 to 2004! Still angry about astroworld veing gone along with other Amusement Parks especially that got rid of good classic coasters!

There used to be a roller coaster called the boomerang I think it’s in Canada. It’s called Canada‘s Wonderland. I went there when I was about six or so and I still remember it being just like that it was one of those half built roller coasters and then you go backwards, same concept different name plus different country even in a different state but I digress the viper was actually my very first upside down roller coaster and it wasn’t at the Georgia Six Flags. I believe it was in Kings Dominion or Darien Lake Six Flags. I don’t know but I know that was my very first upside down roller coaster. And yes it was fully built. It was not a backwardsroller coaster like this one

The girl in front was in my homeroom in high school. I was on the train when they filmed this, but of course you can't make me out. We were both in 12th grade when this was made in 1995 or thereabout.

I was directly behind the girl on line who died on Lightnin' Loops and saw the whole thing. She got on in front of me. This girl was scared. At the last minute she tried to get out of the roller coaster so she never got locked into the harness because she was leaning all the way forward to get up and out. The person who was supposed to check everyone looked like he was 16 and he did not check, and did not see her trying to get off the coaster, and waved to send the rollercoaster out. Her boyfriend tried to grab her but there was no way he could hold on. The boy who sent the coaster out dropped to his knees when he realized what just happened. He screamed over and over, no, no, I killed her. I can't say his age for certain but he looked awfully young to be responsible for people's lives. When we were ushered away from the coaster we passed the body. It was draped over the bottom rail. They had stopped the roller coaster on the other side of the loop so I had to assume the boyfriend just sat in shock looking at her body. It was awful and I still think about it all these years later.

That must have been horrible to witness! And yes, the operators were VERY young. They used to come to our High School to recruit in the spring. I remember the scariest part of that ride was the thought the bars would not be locked and it would just take off and that is exactly what happened.

Other witness accounts say the girl tried to enter from the exit side when the seat was already in the locked position…

  • @jennifers4017

@@xzygreen8938 I don't know where the other witnesses were but I was right behind her on line, along with three of my friends. We saw everything. She did not sneak in. She was panicking even before she got on and lost it once in the coaster, leaned forward to get out and the harness was behind her. Here is the conclusion to the investigation of her death "A State Labor Department investigation showed that the ride was working properly but that ride operator had failed to make sure that the passenger - Karen Marie Brown, 19 years old, of Chester, Pa. - was secured by the safety harness." ''Had the procedures been followed, the death would not have occurred,'' said Seymour Rubenstein, assistant director of the department's Office of Safety Compliance. Miss Brown began the ride sitting in front of the harness, not within it, Mr. Rubenstein said."

I remember this guy! He was One of the first that got to ride Colossus. I was envious! I was 11 years old when Colossus opened. Up until then Revolution was the GOAT! I didn’t think there could be a better thrilling coaster! It went upside down which was kinda scary for an 9 year old. Even a 9 year old that loved roller coasters! I remember when riding the Revolution with friends we had no screaming challenges. WHO’s could hold out the longest without screaming! I lost every time! I didn’t get to ride Colossus until I was 13 in 1980. I loved how it zipped over the tracks with all that floater airtime! It’s the time in my life when I felt pure joy!

May I use your footage in a video a review of this coaster that I'm working on? It was one of my favorite coasters growing up, and I'm working on trying to make reviews for all the coasters that I've been on. I'll put your channel's name on screen, and give you full credits in the description.

This commercial used to scare me when I was two or three years old. The fang scratches at the end were all I had to go by when looking for the Six Flags commercial from that era that scared me. This was also uploaded on my birthday. It's funny how these things happen.
