That’s how I feel when someone is speaking perfect English and insist on pronouncing Latinos (or Latinx) like they’re from Tijuana.

I lived in Paris, Bordeaux, Caen, Toulouse, and Orléans. I was never treated this way while speaking French. Yes, some people would respond in English, but they were never rude. And my accent was not great.

ah yes, here come all of the people who have very reasonable and informed opinions about California, who definitely haven't just watched a couple youtube videos about how much the liberal state that funds and feeds more of the country than any other state sucks. I'm not here to say California is without flaws but it's hard to take people at face value when they try to paint it as some sort of hellscape

As an Italian, I can confirm we LOVE foreigners trying to speak our language and we ALWAYS try to understand what they’re trying to say and as we know Italian is hard to learn, we truly, genuinely appreciate everyone who’s trying and no matter if you can barely say “what’s your name, my name is,” and simple sentences like these, we appreciate and recognise the efforts! Not saying that French people don’t do the same, but saying that most other cultures don’t do the same. English speakers for example .. and what piss me off is the fact that even with Italian words they believe they’re allowed to miss pronunce them and that’s ok and sounds better but then if you pronunce an English word wrong, they laugh at you.

I don’t have sick days all at and I work full time. I have a disability and the only reason I’m still employed is because my manager is understanding and fights HR and upper management to keep me. I run out of pto early every year for doctor appointments, procedures, and hospitalizations. But my manager allows me to take unpaid time off when I need to. So I’m one of the lucky ones here. How messed up is that?
