After not making weight during weigh ins, Mardin’s coach told me I had to cut weight the day of the fight down to 143 in order for them to accept and continue the fight. Which my coach and I accepted not knowing the consequences. I cut 7 lbs the morning of the fight day and still fought as my body hadn’t replenished. It was dumb but as fighters we tend to have the warrior mindset. During the end of round one, my lungs started to get dry and my thought process and reaction was way slower than normal. I couldn’t breathe and didn’t even see the cross coming. Big props to Mardin and it was an honor sharing the ring with him. Had I been healthy that night, I know I would’ve took the W. No excuses on my end, just poor judgment and dumb decisions. If he wants to run it back at 140-145lbs I’d be happy to oblige, respectfully.
