Hi I have followed your tutorial but the output of the download that I get is many images not one image as you got. Any ideas where I went wrong? Many thanks

Hi Phil, You can set the measurement units to feet or metres (I think its metres by default). When you georeference it will do so in the measurement unit related to the coordinate system. To change it go to settings>options>map tools and you should see measure tool

Georefrerecing tips = big thumbs up :) will be digitising some pre war deeds next week... Any hints on a v quick way to convert an imperial scale to metric?

I have previously used ArcGIS, but the benefits of QGIS are that it is free, well supported by a user community and best of all works natively on my Mac!

You're welcome Matthew. There is obviously more that you can do with QGIS, but this should set you on the right track

Great tutorial Paul, many thanks. As an archaeologist the tutorials for GIS products are very often too geography centric, but this gave me exactly what I needed.
