It depends on the road we are on, I ride with it raised slightly and it’ll conserve the cutting edges, sometimes on a road with high center it’ll really burn through the blades. They are double edged so we flip em once .

How does this machine perform on a 4in cut? Do you have to back the trucks up behind you? I have a Roadtech RX700 currently, but its no good for ditch line repairs, so i was looking at a small machine.
@Heavyroadequipment6 ай бұрын
It is ok, depends on where it’s being used, we did some shoulder widening where I was on hard packed gravel and it was good but on semi loose soil it’s a real pain, trucks are backing up with me and that works good, 400 lbs per sq in on these tires compared to 25 lbs per sq in on the w1000F tracked machine. And I was going 3-4” deep

@Heavyroadequipment I was outbid on a W1200 track machine Thursday, I have a feeling that would be a better way to go. I've been doing paving for a long time now, but milling is a new world. My Roadtech eats the road so fast, I need a small machine that will also be productive. I can't be out there with 9 guys on a prevailing rate job having the machine getting stuck and slipping around. I'd freak out.
@Heavyroadequipment6 ай бұрын
That’s a bummer, yeah, I really liked running the W 1200 F, it’s a real good machine as well. I had a meltdown doing a grind out with the wheeled machine for a city job, and it was peeling out, trying to back up the hill for the next pass, that was the last time, I used a wheeled machine, never again. Practically all of what we do is grind out and/or prelevel for chipseal activity.

Yeah that is a big suck for me as well. The big distributor I run needs a minimum of 900 to light the single diesel burner. What type of distributor do you run ?
@gumballer1339 ай бұрын
@Heavyroadequipment Its an older Etyrne Black topper. I think it's model BT-HI. I think the truck is a 1990 lol, but barely 100,000mi. I only use it 10 times a month and paid 9k. So it does the job.
@Heavyroadequipment3 ай бұрын
That’s pretty cool though. I have contemplated buying an older unit like that for doing side work because I enjoy it so much. But in the long run for me it won’t pencil. Just daydreaming at this point I believe the newer distributors have belly heating strips that don’t require a minimum amount of emulsion they still have burners though that I suspect you would need 650 gallons for a small truck and maybe 900 gallons for a larger truck, not quite sure though.

It gets mixed with the tack, if it is a concern for you , open the pump box screen access cover and drain it off , or keep the tank valve closed and circulate in bar then spray out of the nozzles .
