If im wrong correct me on this but i read somewhere that the only reason Dale died is because the actor was good friends with the director of the first season so he was angry that his friend got fired and asked to leave the show because of it. If thats true the actor's a real one and is probably why he played the character so well just implementing his own values and principles to make a great character even greater

Dale was right morally, but Shane was right in terms of survival and security. Randall flat-out admitted to Daryl that his gang were savage killers and rapists, he has no place on that farm. Dale wasn’t there when Randall said that

He was a Liberal. Sympathetic, compassionate, had good intentions but just not realistic which I agree made him pretty lame. His views were naive even when the world was “normal” let alone in apocalyptic world.

@Boatcrewproduct He was useful for the story in order to show some moral contrast, but in reality, he was holding the group back. Shane was legitimately crazy, but he was ahead of his time in terms of survival/decision making. I guess my point is that Shane was a great asset overall, and would have been a huge help in later seasons, whereas Dale would have gotten the group killed if he influenced major decisions.

I Honestly felt bad for Dale here- nobody was taking his side and I get where he’s coming from but at the time I thought the rest of em were right- I mean the dude they had was like “Please- we can trade with you or something and work something out bla, bla, bla” then once Carl showed himself to him he certainly changed his tune quick to “if you let me go and come back with me- we can take good care of you” and I think we all knew what he meant-

Dale may have been wrong considering that new world didn't have the same civilized rules of before but I do admire his persistence on keeping his dignity intact than getting his mind and heart corrupted by the mere desire of survive at all cost
