    The only thing that bothers me about all these mapping software's and with the reviews of them is no one is stressing that the property boundaries are not accurate. How do I know this? I tested them on my own hunting land and they can be 100s of yards incorrect. The reason they're not accurate is they use County Plat maps which are not accurate and not legally binding. The plat maps are estimates and most if not all will state they are an estimate and not legally accurate. The only accurate source of legally binding property lines are legal surveys. The mapping software Companies use the County Plat Maps because they are FREE. To use the survey, you have to pay the surveyor for the survey. You may wonder does this matter well in my state shooting an animal on my land without my permission is poaching no matter what software you use. I just wish these mapping software Companies and the promotors and reviewers of such would do the right thing and make it clear the property lines are not accurate and not legal.

    @@buck16 I think this is a larger issue on private land since the public lands have legal surveys done when they are established and that data is used to demarcate the boundaries of public lands. But nevertheless I always check the published WMA brochure map to see if it matches what is shown on the apps map. I have found that these maps are generally pretty accurate for public lands the only time I’ve found inconsistencies is when a new piece of land has been added to a WMA and the map isn’t updated so it shows the public land ends before it actually does. -Mark

  • @SwampNStomp
    @SwampNStomp14 күн бұрын

    Sometimes I scout one time and find exactly what I’m looking for, put a camera on it and there’s tons of deer and then I’ll stay out of there until the hunt. Sometimes u have to keep searching. But I rarely go back to the same area when scouting. One look is usually all I need, but that’s also because I know what I’m looking for. In the beginning u may need more time in an area to figure it out. -Mark

    why are they allowed to kill the largest alligators, don't the authorities want an alligator thats known as the largest alligator in the world & be a tourist attraction, & not be allowed to kill it? Like Lolong was known as the biggest salt water crocodile in the world & would have been a tourist attraction had it not died.

  • @SwampNStomp
    @SwampNStomp19 күн бұрын

    I mean this in the most respectful way, that is a very short sighted view point. Hunting is a valuable tool in conservation and maintaining healthy populations of wild game. These giant gators, while they are magnificent animals, are bullies and often times prevent younger males from reproducing, thus reducing genetic diversity and increasing prevalence of disease. Since they have no real natural predators these large gators usually die slow and painfully through starvation as their bodies slowly shut down preventing them from catching prey. Not to mention this was a totally wild gator, not something in a zoo that people can gawk at. To take this gator that has lived free and wild for probably 80-100 yrs and put it in an enclosure as a tourist attraction would be a fate worse than death. Long story short, you want hunters to remove the big ones. It’s good for the population and it’s a much better fate than what nature has in store. Thanks for watching -Mark

    You shouldn't insert your thermometer so that it touches bone. Bone conducts heat differently and will give you a fals reading. Your thermometer may well read, let's say 170 degrees. But the meat will actually be more like 160 and may well not be at a safe temp. Ok now that that is done. Are you starting to hunt private land? In the past you have seemed to be al.ost exclusively public. If public , where can you hunt hogs out of hunting season?

  • @SwampNStomp
    @SwampNStomp25 күн бұрын

    No we still hunt public land. This piece of private is just a spot that we go when we have close to home that makes for good afternoon after work hunts. And we hunt it for hogs out of deer season sometimes. We still prefer public land over private. Private land just doesn’t feel wild enough! There are places you can hog hunt on public this time of year but you’ll have to do the homework and figure out which ones… we don’t spot name! -Mark

    Define sovereign lands?@@SwampNStomp

  • @SwampNStomp
    @SwampNStomp20 күн бұрын

    @@lfaulk36 I don’t want to lol, cause it’s a grey subject. Loosely defined, sovereign lands are lands that are below the average high water mark of a public water body like a lake or river. Those lands cannot be privately controlled, they are unmanaged public Lands so the general state regs apply which includes year round hog hunting. -Mark
