Thanks for this. What are your thoughts about buying compact cameras? Specifically, some are very nice but the issue of dust on the sensor of these sealed cameras gives me pause. I purchased (and returned) a Lumix LX100 from MPB because of that. But I don't think the sensor dust is specific to that make. Do you have any thoughts about that? thx RSV869

Thank you. I bought an open box “excellent” rated LUMIX g95d with 12-60 mm kit lens for $548. Only problem is it needs to ship because it’s far. I did spend an extra $58 for geek squad two years replacement plan. I never buy extended warranty ( except for drones because flying cameras are subject to a lot of risk) but since it is my first camera (again besides my flying ones) and it’s open box I figured it would be good to get the two years for $58. Plus you get a cleaning each year where they send it in to the manufacturer to be torn down and cleaned. I’m sure two of those are worth more than the $58 alone. How necessary they are is another story. I am anxiously waiting for this to be delivered so I know if it’s good or I need to return. For reference the camera is about $700 new on sale from $1000. Open box is $548. So I’m saving $150 on top of a $300 sale if this open box is good. I’ve had excellent results with Best Buy open box for the few times I used them. If the camera has to go back I hope the $700 sale everyone is having is still going on!!! I’m sure it’s fine. Usually someone bought something and simply changed their mind and you’d never know the item was open box. I still have a sound bar and sub I bought BB open box almost 10 years ago. It’s been across the whole country and now I’ve given it to my mom as I upgraded to full atmos. Still works perfect, even the remote. I bought a brand new Magic Trackpad 2 that was still brand new with the exception of the box being open. I’ve had others just like these two examples. I’ve never been burned on an Amazon warehouse or best buy open box. Usually the product is better than it’s rating. I’ve bought fair off Amazon as that’s all that was left and the item still had all the plastic peels on it. It was brand new.

I used B-roll of scrolling through a 90D instruction manual to demonstrate that camera manuals list included accessories. This is true for mirrorless cameras, too. But you know all this. As for the burst for checking shutter function, that’s footage of my Fujifilm X-T2-a mirrorless camera. But even if it wasn’t, try not to miss the forest for the trees.

Hi there, im Nik. Found your video really helpful. For me it's subject of an exam i am due here im Brazil. Quick doubt: so, in theory, an f2 lens i'll reduce the passage of light to 1/4 of the passage from an hipothetical biggest aperture of 1, right? I ask that, because... maybe it's because english is my second language i got puzzled when u said doubling the f-stop will reduce de brightness by a quarter, u didn't mean the brightness will be one(initial f-stop) minus a quarter, but 1 minus three quarters, right? Help me out here heheeh, thank you so much.
@exposuretherapyphotoworksh4081 Жыл бұрын
When you reduce the aperture (that is, increase the f-number) by one stop, you lose half the light. When I say double the f-number, I imply, for example, going from f/1.0 to f/2.0, or f/4.0 to f/8.0, or f/11 to f/22. Doubling the f-number always reduces light to 1/4 of the original number because it’s always a difference of negative two stops. Similarly, halving your f-number (e.g. f/16 to f/8.0) will 4x the light because it’s a positive two-stop change.

Okay, I understand that choosing the same f‑number on a lens of any focal length will result in the same amount of light passing through the lens. But a shorter focal length lets in more light at any aperture. How does field of view complicate this?

I've been having a lot of trouble understanding the rules/guidelines for composition and translating those into my photos and this is by far the best video I've seen on it. The video has an amazing structure that points out all of the significant things you have to look out for while actively encouraging trying new perspectives when taking photographs and not binding you to a single set of rules. This video has helped me massively and I cant thank you enough.
