    I love Cliff and these videos are excellent, I wish we'd been able to see how he cut the scion piece before fitting them together, it was hard to tell even when viewing fullscreen on my computer. It sounds like he did a normal tapered cut (as with whip-and-tongue) and then removed more bark on the other side of the taper cut before folding the rootstock bark back up and wrapping, but I'm not sure what the scion piece looked like exactly.
