The BranMan

I play video games, talk about 'em, and edit together videos about 'em. An emphasis of my channel is the Kirby series, knock-off games, obscure games, and weird games. I try to be funny, as well. Emphasis on the word try.

March 22, 2015 -- Changed my name from "TheRba12" to "The BranMan." TheRba12 was too confusing and weird. BranMan just has a better ring to it. However, I am unable to change my KZread url until I have 500 subscribers, so the url will be TheRba12 until then.

    Thank for sharing your experience and the merch with us. I never knew the penlights had Persona-themed designs on them and they look well made too! Still, they make you buy an overpriced drink on top of an already pricey ticket to let you in? Atlus thinks their fans are made of money! 😭 Thanks for the heads up though! So how did you pay or what would you recommend a future traveler/tourist use to purchase things in Japan? With cash or is there like a debit/credit card you can get while you're there? I loved hearing about the inside concert jokes! If Yumi Kawamura were there, the crowd would've shouted "Cute! Yumi, you're cute!" and then she would've been like "Shut it!" lol Also huge respect to folks like you who pronounce names correctly :D

    Lol, I think the drinks are a venue rule, since I went to a Hatsune Miku concert here and they had the same system. It's only 600yen (3.81usd), so not a huge deal to me especially compared to the ticket price. I probably should've said the price in the video lol For payment, cash here is always the safest bet: some places will only accept cash, so it's always a good idea to have some on you. While I live here now, back when I first came on travel, I usually used my American card even though it had a small foreign currency surcharge. But you can also use a Suica card or an Icoca card if you want (both are pretty much the same), which you load cash onto at a kiosk, usually located in train stations. A lot of stores accept them, and they also make paying for trains super easy (just tap the card at the ticket gate when you enter and exit) so I definitely recommend one of those. And thank you for the compliment about my pronunciation! Sometimes it can be kinda hard switching from an American English accent to a single Japanese name, then back to English, but I'm glad it sounds okay. Thank you for the kind words!

    @@TheBranMan Yeah, my frugal side was all, "What? You already paid for the ticket but you gotta pay for a drink too? C'mon!" lol Thank you so much for your advice! I'll look into the Suica/Icoca card. It sounds convenient to use.

    Thank you for sharing this video. Have to ask how it was going as an American English speaker (assuming you’re American whose primary language is English). Were there other English speakers there? Did you feel out of place at all or was it easy to get your bearings? Thanks again :)

  • @TheBranMan
    @TheBranManАй бұрын

    That's correct, I'm from America and English is my native language. I did see maybe 1 or 2 other non-Japanese people there, but not as many as there were at P Sound Wish 2022. As for feeling out of place, I suppose I would have, but I've been living in Japan for about 3 years now so I think I've managed to get used to that feeling by now. Going to unfamiliar events like this is always a bit nerve-wracking for me, but I think it also helped that I've been going to more concerts over the past year so I'm getting a better sense of what to expect in general. Luckily I've had a lot of good friends and opportunities that have let me get better at speaking Japanese, but I think that this event would still be perfectly doable for someone who doesn't speak any at all. The staff seemed really organized at getting people lined up and into the venue at the right time, so even if one didn't speak Japanese, they could still probably follow the crowd and get into the show. The part where they were calling ticket numbers to enter the building might've been difficult without any Japanese, but in my experience, if you just try talking to the staff in English, they can almost always help you in simple English, or at least track down another staff member who can speak more fluently. Thank you for the kind comments! I appreciate it, and I hope this answers your questions.

    This may be rude, but the person you took a picture with at the end was not YU_JURRY but just a fan, a cosplayer iyiy_4. He also did a great Junpei, but some fans said that audience cosplay should be banned because it causes chaos like this.

  • @TheBranMan
    @TheBranManАй бұрын

    Wow, I feel like such a fool lmao. He looked just like the guy who was on stage at the time, and when I complimented his dancing he totally acted like he was the one that was up there during the show. Looking at the photos of the performers, and of that cosplayer, I see now how different they look. Banning cosplay seems a bit extreme, but I definitely think impersonating a cast member is pretty immoral. Thank you for pointing this out.

    If you mean a live recording (since I did include some of the official soundtrack versions of the music), I didn't want to get in trouble since filming or recording is all prohibited. I think there's an album of the P Sound Wish 2022 concert though on Spotify (and probably elsewhere too) if you wanna listen to that and get a feel for how the live performances would've sounded here. Sorry I couldn't include that though!

    I thought it was mid honestly. I think what you said about level design in Jet Set Radio Future applies here but to a much bigger degree. Few landmarks, large (empty) areas, and not really fun to traverse. I relate to circling around the hideout. I do that in the garage in JSRF practicing frameboosts.

    i have a question: how can you have a profile if it's an arcade game? is there a physical card that you slot into the machine? if so, is it specifically a maimai card or does it store info from a bunch of games?

  • @TheBranMan
    @TheBranMan2 ай бұрын

    I'm a bit late to reply to this one, but yes! It's called an Aime card, and before you put your coin in, you touch the card to the NFC reader on the machine. Then the machine connects to the internet and signs you in. Most companies have their own versions of these cards (Aime is for SEGA games like Maimai, Bandai Namco games use Bana Passport, Konami games use E Amusement cards for example) but I've found that my Aime card will work on just about every machine I've tried it with. The only caveat is that the machine you're using it on must be connected to the internet in order for it to work. Hope this helped! Sorry again for the late response.

    i just discovered chunithm less than 2 months ago at a local arcade near me (in MA) and ive been hooked since the second i sat at that machine. it brings me so much serotonin, i could easily sit there and play for hours. i recently bought an amie card so i can keep my progress and its genuinely such a fun time. im thankful i have access to this beautiful game but i wish it was more widespread amongst arcades. when i say ive dreamt about this arcade game, and i hug it goodbye when i have to go shows how addicting it is. i plan on having my own chunithm cabinet some day when i own my own house ♥️
