    I'm not sure if this applies to other brands of shell holders, but I can tell you with 100% surety that you will need to also purchase the CH4D shell holder (#15 for .223/.556) if using the Lee shell holders. Without the CH4D shell holder it will tear the head of the case to crap! With the CH4D shell holder the swage kit is the tits!!!

    Why not make sure that you are truly saved by Jesus Christ and practice this way. Remorsefully confess with your heart your sins to Jesus Christ who is God and tell Him that you right now are repenting of your sins and you want to be born again of the Spirit from above. Tell Jesus that you are remorsefully sorry for breaking His commandments and that you are begging for forgiveness from Him. Allow His blood from the cross to wash away your sins. After this is done with your heart successfully the Holy Spirit will come to live within you and He will rebuild you from the inside out. Look for signs that you are saved. Things like spreading the good news from Jesus, getting other people saved, a craving for the word of God, reading the Bible, etc… These things are known as a calling and fruit bearing. If you're not bearing fruit then keep doing it. Sometimes it takes time to get saved. Read Matthew chapter 13 from the King James Bible. God bless!!!!!

    It's common in Texas to pronounce it that way, even in industry as it relates to piping. If it's too distracting, move along. Not sure the point of your comment.

    That looks pretty darn easy. I did not see why you would mention difficulty or being obstructed in any way. I have a Dillon. This looks easier to use.

    I have a Dillon 600 super swager, and I bought one of these for my CO-AX. Have swaged probably 5000 with the Dillon. This is much quicker and easier than the Dillon, which is now for sale.

    I think Midway has a primer pocket swaging video where they show adjustment of swaging depth. In it, they keep screwing the die in with a cartridge case inserted and the ram run up to the top stroke. You stop screwing the die in when the case touches the swager. Thereafter, one carefully screws the die in little by little, until after a few test fits, the casing will accept a primer. This method may waste a couple of primers. You don't want to over-swage Federal .223 cases by running the swager up too far!

    Me thinks he has never swaged .30-06 or .308 with this tool. The forces are much higher and it takes more effort to pull the punches out of the larger primer pockets.

  • @mrhangfire1

    I do all crimped military calibers with this method. I have never had a problem with any primer pockets. Sometimes it will attempt to "stick" but I just wipe a little Imperial case lube on it and continue. There will still be cases that need to be reamed while priming, so it isn't 100% effective the way I set it up but I bench prime by 1000 or 2000 lots now so it isn't too inconvenient. Maybe 3-5/100 to reprocess.

  • @jawsmod

    Hmmm.... This method puts all the pressure on the case rim. How many 223 have you done and have you had issues with the case rim on 223 brass using this tool?

  • @mrhangfire1
    @mrhangfire18 жыл бұрын

    You're right, it does. Just as the extractor in any semi-auto rifle does with much smaller area. If the die is set way out of its' useful range, then yes, the rim will be damaged. It's been years since I made the video, so I can't remember if I mentioned sorting the brass by type/year and adjust the die accordingly. It's not a precise or absolute adjustment to get it set up but once it is, it goes through brass very quickly. That's the reason I chose it over the Dillon. Ultimately it is faster and requires smaller movements. I do thousands at a time and if I happen to damage a few cases during set up, that is acceptable to me.

    I think a o press would be better for this ! That foster press is nice but there is a couple things that don't justify the cost of this press for me! But about doing these swages i prefer using a counter sink drill bit of good quality. It has 82 degree angle which is perfect for getting the crimp out!

    great video and very cool tooling! I hate to be a stickler, but if you consider how the word wage is pronounced. the A is long. The word swage is pronounced the same way, only with an S in front. Vs. wedge. or Swedge... :-) Just sayin....

    +Ben Dover I tend to hear a lot of people pronounce swage as "swedge" I dont let it bother me because there are a significant number of people pronouncing it that way. Let's all go around pronouncing Wednesday and February the way they are spelled.

    Thank you Sir for taking the time to make this video. I purchased a 1000 once fired LC .223 military brass, I already had the CH4D Priner Swage, just wasn't sure how to set it up. . Now if I could just determine which of the cases need swaging. They all have what looks like an "insert" from top to bottom in the primer pocket after I decapped them. I assumed this was the part that got swaged, but I don't "feel" anything, no hesitation at all when I run the cases through the swager, and the case looks the same as before. I attempted to prime some of them before I swaged them, and they primed just like any other brass, which leads me to believe they don't need swaged. Or I am doing something wrong. Just for the record, while I did just get a new Dillon XL 650, I also have a case of "Press Envy". That is one wicked looking set-up you have! I have to do my swaging on my old, antique Lee turret press-which actually does the job very well. .

  • @daveybernard1056

    If your cases will accept primers, you are already fine. Factory primer pocket ring crimps or stabs only need to be pushed out of the way (swaged) or cut out of the way (twirling a sharp drill bit) if they impede primer insertion. You will know if you need to be rid of the primer pocket crimp if: 1. It takes excessive force to insert a primer, meaning more force than a conventional, uncrimped commercial case requires to prime. 2. If the primer balks, mashes, deforms or tips upon primer insertion. Primers are a small quantity of shock sensitive explosive, so one does not want to crush or deform them on insertion.
