I am a retired computer programmer. I wrote a popular hotel reservation package called ImagInn back in the 90's. I got my start in computers with an Apple II. I later on got very interested in UNIX development. I also wrote a popular game called Clone Invader.

My hobbies, I love computers and radio controlled aircraft. I flew helicopters for many years starting in the mid 1970's, built a Heathkit Pack 17 radio and eventually started flying fixed wing. My primary interest today is sailplanes. I fly several 3.5 meter models like the Pulsar and Grafas Maxi. I use OpenTX with FRSky and RadioMaster.

    Hi Gary. Thank you for the awesome clock. I am facing little issue. I am from India. And my time zone is +5:30. So what do I enter. I tried entering 5.3 In serial monitor it is showing ntp time 30min behind my time. How do I fix this. More over there is no wether info showing in the monitor. It says no wether info found Also please help if this will work with P4 led matrix. What changes do i need to make to make it work with P4 board

  • @GaryQuiring
    @GaryQuiring9 күн бұрын

    The library I use NTPClient does support time zones with 30 minute adjustments. What you need to do is manually edit the NTPClientLib.cpp, line 100. (_minutesOffset = minutes;). Try changing that to _minutesOffset = 30; Then recompile. Someone else had mentioned that to me and I believe he said it worked. The P4 board question, I am not a hardware guy. That code was Harry's, I'm not sure how or what the differences are with these LED boards.

    Hi Gary Quiring, is it possible to add a DTH11 temperature sensor? to see the temperature in the house.

  • @GaryQuiring
    @GaryQuiring12 күн бұрын

    It's probably doable, there is a library for the DTH11 sensor. D3 is not being used on this project so the sensor could be hooked up to it. The problem is where to display that additional data. It would have to flip/flop between the internet weather data and the in-house data on the display and some sort of indicator would have to show what data it's displaying - indoor or internet.

  • @GaryQuiring
    @GaryQuiring12 күн бұрын

    It's mentioned at 12:24 minutes into the video that you have to let the RX be on for 30 or so seconds and then set it to Receiver. Firmware versions should be the most current and also your multi-module needs to be current firmware.

    I have the same model (OLED65C9PUA) with only 1800 hours and there are dead pixels on all 4 edges. I only just noticed it recently. It not as bad as yours, but I guess it's only a matter of time.

  • @GaryQuiring
    @GaryQuiring14 күн бұрын

    Since making the video I learned the number of hours used is apparently not the main cause of the dead pixels. It's more related to the age of the panel on or off. Since making the video I have noticed dead pixels along the top edge. Amazon had a great deal on the 77C3 for $1724 so I bought it. My 65" is now in the bedroom which gets zero use. It will be interesting to see if the dead pixels increase even without using it. I will turn it on after a few months and see what it looks like.

    There hasn't been a reliable technology since CRT tv in this industry. Most LCD TVs have a life of 2-4 years before they start to produce panel issues. It's rare of find a 5+ year old LCD TV without any problems. In contrast, CRT TVs can easily run 20+ years with minor maintenance and repairs.

    Same here, in the early years when it first came out it was a decent deal at Tower Hobbies with the coupons and Super Saver club. Then Graupner got crazy with their over-priced hardware and lack of support/fixing bugs, most of us cleared out to something else. I still use their receiver with the RadioMaster, it's stable.

    My 55” C1 has now done this and I’ve only had it for 2 years and it dosnt even have 1000 hours on it yet. All around the edge of the screen black dots and I paid 2k for the tv unreal. I was thinking of dropping OLED if this is what the pixels are going to do freaking die like this I mine as well go with a QLED and take advantage of the brighter colours. I have a 8 year old Vizio set it’s LED 1080p still works flawlessly no dead pixels. But my 2k dollar tv I’ve had less then 3 years is failing.

  • @GaryQuiring
    @GaryQuiringАй бұрын

    The misconception is many think it's related to how many hours you use the OLED, it's not. It's the overall age of the panel, on or off. I am also very disappointed I spent so much $$ on this TV to have it start failing so quickly.
