This movie blew me away in 1997 and has been my favorite film ever since. And if you’re wondering, no the opening lines in the theatrical cut didn’t ruin the experience for us in the 90’s because the real mystery of the film was always Shell Beach which isn’t spoiled by the lines. If it ruined the film back then, then you would have not seen critics like Roger Ebert put it at #1 on his best of list that year.

Smeagol remembers, thanks to Frodo, his original name; he also has momentarily taken on a helpful behavior and attitude. Do you recall Sauron's command to Saruman, "Make me an army worthy of Mordor"? Saruman surely succeeded! Arwen's Dad, Elrond, surely is a maudlin character in this one, so very negative., contrary to what we've been led to believe for elves! Time for the Ents to participate in the latest round of "Bowling for Uruks"! And for a performance of "Dances for Trees"!

This among my top 2 favorite John Carpenter movies. The three men with Lo Pan are the Three Storms. Thunder is the strong one. Rain is the one with the long hair. It is obvious which one is Lighting.

I know a hundred people have posted about how Jack is the sidekick, but I love how perfectly he is the proxy for the audience. As much as he doesn’t have a clue what’s going on… neither do we! We just roll with it 😂

If you guys haven’t seen it already Father Of The Bride 2 is a great, fun movie about pregnancy. My wife and I loved rewatching it before our son was born and the first movie is just as great. Another underrated gem I’d recommend is What To Expect When You’re Expecting, has a great cast in it and is a fun watch!

Bill Paxton watch list (excluding Aliens, which you've already seen, and Titanic, where he's part of the framing device for the story): * Frailty (starred and directed) * Near Dark (major role) * Tombstone (major role) * Apollo 13 (major role) * True Lies (minor but fun role) * Streets of Fire (minor but fun role) * Predator 2 (minor but fun role) He was in a bunch of other stuff as well, but those are the ones that I'd definitely recommend.

The proper way to watch this movie is to skip the beginning part and start right where Jack is driving down the road in the Porkchop Express. The beginning part was added at the insistence of the production company, because they feared that the audience would get confused and not think Kurt Russell's character was the hero. Which of course, he wasn't. He was the sidekick. Wang Chi was the hero.

Carpenter's parents were musicians. He does the music for a lot of his films. It saves money, and the studios hate giving him money.

The part where he was shooting the guy multiple times in the chair was actually all Nicholson's idea. He just made all those poses for the heck of it because originally in the script he was supposed to only shoot him twice but he said that's just not what joker would do though so he went to town on him lol

In case no one else has mentioned it, Kurt Russell does an amazing job in the movie Soldier from 1998. Also, his son Wyatt plays a younger version of Kurt’s character in the movie.

One of the best, most quotable movies ever made! It is kind of a pity that it was a financial dud. But maybe that is a hidden blessing. (So there would be no attempts to make terrible sequels or franchise it.)
