If you have an iPhone or iPad and want to get more out of your TH-D75, consider getting the B.B. Link adapter. This adapter allows iOS devices to work with the Kenwood TH-D74 and TH-D75 over Bluetooth. With it, you can run apps like RadioMail for emails and aprsfi for GPS positioning and messaging, leveraging the powerful built-in packet TNC in the radio. A great compact portable setup for off-grid communication.
The antenna at 2.50 is much too close to the mast. This will definitely affect the SWR and resonance frequency. Anyway you have some good ideas for offgrid node. I recommend strictly to measure the spectrum of the site before installing nodes to make sure the node is not affected because the frequency is already full or disturbed. Don't you use silica gel in the box to avoid condensation?
Can you give a build list for this as I would like to put one up but use it in the UK .
does this deck work anywhere without Internet and without connecting to bt?
What kind of antenna did you put on it? I’ve got three pre ordered and will need to upgrade them
Doesn't seem like I get the range test messages
Love your channel; I'm running into an issue. I got 4 tdecks , updated them but can't see the messages I send. Through the app they work flawless but as standalone it just says they have all joined and won't show my messages? Why would that be?
I've watched all your Meshtastic centered videos, some of them multiple times, and they are all excellent. You provide answers and solutions. One note on using the Meshtastic Flasher. If you already have a second drive in your computer that you are flashing from, there is no apparent way to change the target drive from D: which is incorrect, to E: for example. Perhaps you have the ear of the programmers at Meshtastic and suggest a fix. Thanks for all your videos, and I always look forward to the next one.
Appreciate it! I'm glad my videos have been helpful! If you right click on "Download UF2" and select Save Link As, you can select whatever location you like.
Sorry to point it out but you really made a mess in this video. It only worked for me when I placed the home device in "Range Test" also and the CSV that matters is the one in fixed position!
Thanks for filling a need. Excellent work.
Sure thing! Glad it was helpful!
I actually have two T-Beam V1.1's with SX1262's (and M8N GPS's) on them, which I had bought to test the Helium Network a while back. Later on, I found out that the SX1262 was not compatible with Helium. So I put those aside for future LoRa, etc. projects. Today I tried them with Meshtastic, and they work great :) Thank you for your videos.
Sure thing! Glad you're finding the videos helpful! This is a great example of why I never get rid of devices 😂
@@The_Comms_Channel Never, ever 😄
6:00 the battery life info is enough for me to decide to go for the Wisblock, ty
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the support!
i missed steps about setting a fixed bluetooth passcode
Very helpful and practical video, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Just picked up two of the t echos, one with the pressure sensor and one without. It sounds like that’s the only difference but I saw in thr details that one uses Arduino h511 and one uses h505. Is this just an irrelevant difference and they should both be able to communicate to each other correct?
Correct, they'll still be able to communicate.
@@The_Comms_Channel gotcha, thanks
Thanks!

Please keep up the phanenomal work!
Will do!
Thanks!

I bought 4 tdecks, flashed them and everything however can't see messages on noone of their screens . When I pair them with a phone everything works flawlessly through the apps but just can't use them as a standalone due to messages not showing up on screen? All it says is that it can see the other devises and that they joined? But not what I type? But yet on the app I can see what I type?
Awesome video. Thanks for the walkthrough. Super helpful.
Sure thing! Glad it was helpful!
Great video! I'm new to Mesh. Just confirming this device is plug and play?
Yep! Just Bluetooth to your phone with the app installed and you're good to go!
I'm trying to follow along. I'm new to meshtastic. I have a lilygo T-Deck and a heltec v3, and I did a range test. I could even get a block away. I might have gotten about 200 feet apart in good weather line of sight. Both run on 18650 batteries, and both have the longer upgraded antennas. Both are set to long-fast. And both are on the same private channels. Any help on getting that long range I been hearing about.?
I set my second router up. Seems to go well but im getting an unauthorized error. I do have another admin channel set up for my other router. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Could you please help me with this question? You DID go over range I know and I am sorry about asking a question that was technically covered in the video. I would like to ask a more direct question about range. What is the typical range you can expect in a realistic day-to-day scenario? I do realize that this is based on a lot of factors; I just would like a range of for example you could expect 10-15 miles with a basic setup or similar answer. Thanks for all of your hard work on these videos I am working my way through the advanced videos now! Thanks a bunch, my friend! Never mind, I finished the advanced playlist, and your video there was helpful! Thank you for all you have done for the community!
Sure thing! Glad the videos have been helpful!
Most recent data shows that there is absolutely zero reasons to face solar panels upwards. In fact, data shows that not facing them upwards actually increases the life and output of solar panels It is also common sense if you understand what solar actually is. It has nothing to do with light, only radiation. Which is why on dark cloudy days you still have output. They do not work on light. So ignore the ignorant people who only parrot what someone else said that they believe to be an authority figure. None of them have a clue what they’re talking about or how anything works.
Thanks for this! Definitely learning that there are a lot of people that should just be ignored.
Keep it up, love your videos
Thanks, will do!

Keep doing what your doing; your videos are very well done
Good video, I have the great ICOM w32a as well the ft 857, I tested my TNC4& Yaesu pretty straight forward, so my question is: is there a way to keep the settings for each radio or once adjusted can be used with different radios( would like to use between the Yaesu and the ICOM)as plug and play? Thank you in advance
Not that I'm aware of unfortunately. That would be nice to have though
Pre-order is not open. Will be weeks at least.
What do all these devices do?
Curvature of the earth lol, so weird how we measure the earth and navigate it without the curvature. Even the scada line of sight tool doesn't account for earth curve. When I worked in teleco we never accounted for it with line of sight signals that should've had hundreds of feet of earth curve hill in the way.. again so weird.
The SCADA LoS tool accounts for topography and curvature automatically by abstraction. No user input is required, hence why it may seem “weird”.
Question: i set it up, it works great. When i list nodes and choose my router it shows channel as 0 and unknown. Am I missing something?
This is perfect for me but waiting on the preorder to become available
Stay tuned! I'll be making an announcement once the pre-order is available again.
Thanks!
I have no idea what im doing, but I love the idea of offgrid encrypted comms for my family. And to be able to track where they are for safety. All offgrid comms is amazing for shtf
I know this video is 7 months old, however I am just learning what meshtastic is. Awesome video and subscribed
Thanks for the sub!
I love your clear and thorough videos. I've learned a lot. I tried to install the Python CLI, and ran into a problem editing the Windows environment variable for path. I am running Windows 11, and it does not follow your video. When your video says to add a new path, Windows 11 doesn't give that option. It just shows the old path. I worked around this by adding a ; after the old path and pasting in the additional one copied as in the video. that worked. I also ran into issues as there is a newer version of Python in the Store, but when I installed it, it failed to install the Meshtastic CLI, so I had to go back to the version in this video.
Hi. Which SDR are you using?
I am late in responding but I would by interested in the mounting kits that support a dual set of batteries.
Sure thing. You can find them here thecommschannel.etsy.com

In summer, doesn't it get too hot inside the case for a lithium battery? These usually operate up to 60ºC (140ºF). Thanks for all your videos, awesome info!
Angle is everything on these little panels. I imagine angling the panel about 45 degrees up and towards south would give more than 50 % better performance. It's really great that these are able to charge while not being angled properly at all.
Nice list, thanks for sharing
Very cool, thanks for sharing
What model is that antenna you're using at 4:45? Thanks for the video! Never mind. I see this answered deeper in the comments. Thanks!
Hey there, thanks for your great video which helped me perform some range tests. I have now created an online tool that allows you to upload your rangetest file directly and will show all of the points on the map directly without ever sending to Google - the data is also not stored: rangetest DOT meshstation DOT org. Hope this helps!
What's your useful range ?
Less than 2 minutes into the video and already got the info I was hoping to find. Being able to set "Friendly" names for devices so I don't have to know who's texting from a random string of numbers and letter, lol. Skilling up on knowledge before I buy a few devices to set up my own network. Your channel has been incredibly helpful!
Glad I could help!
I was gifted two of these. They're pretty remarkable. Feels great in the hand.
