    I’ve a suggestion. My only 4 motors are the little with anti-studs. So could you try making the smallest Lego car you can that effectively works on the terrain you test and more like sand.

    you should of used pneumatics because then you would still have suspension

  • @funbrick
    @funbrick20 күн бұрын

    At first it was planned to do it with a pneumatic, but it was decided to create it with rigid electric drives, because this is not a heavy real car, but a light plastic car and its weight will not be enough to squeeze the air in pneumatic cylinders. But everything is still ahead and maybe something similar will be done later, but with pneumatics... ;-)

    In fact, this machine is technically even more complicated than it seems at first glance. 🙂 Hope you will appreciate this work done! 👍 COOL FEATURES: - 9 electric motors; - 4 independent wheel clearance height adjustments; - Separate 2 axle drives of all 4 wheels; - Turning all front & rear wheels; - Powerful XL electric winch with rope & hook; - Motorized spoiler wing with chain drive; - 4 unit 8 channel IR RC; - 4 front lights.

    Has anyone ever tried adding 1x1 tiles to the tread pieces? They would act like cleats on rough terrain and give you more traction.

  • @funbrick
    @funbrickАй бұрын

    In the second modification, not 1x1 tiles were added to the tracks, but long solid slats to increase traction. And the 1x1 tiles will have to be tried next time, but there were fears of losing them in the snow.

    Would it be better if the suspended wheels weren’t sprockets? I feel like the suspension travel is being limited because of tension being created in the tracks? If you look at a tank, the only sprocketted wheels are the drive wheels.

  • @funbrick
    @funbrickАй бұрын

    You're probably right. Also had the same thoughts. Will have to try using rollers instead of sprockets in one of the following machine vehicle. ;-)

    I wonder if the extremity of the red piece exceeds the speed of sound at such RPM.

  • @maxgo9650
    @maxgo9650Ай бұрын

    so, the length of the "red piece" is ≈ 1.9 cm ≈ 0.019 meters; circumference C = 2πR; => the distance that the tip of the "red piece" passes ≈ 2 * 3.1415 * 0.019 ≈ 0.119377 ≈ 0.12 meters; Sound speed ≈ 340 m/s; 340 m/s / 0.12 meters ≈ 2833.(3) rps (revolutions per second) ≈ 170.000 rpm (revolutions per minute) - at such a speed, you need to turn the red piece in order for its very tip to overcome the speed of sound; The XL motor has a rotation speed of ≈ 220 rpm; 170000 / 220 = 772.(72) - this is how much it is necessary to increase the rotation speed from the motor to the red piece; at 1:19, the speeds of the input and output shafts are correlated as 1:729, which is ≈ 94.34% of the speed of sound; at 2:12, the speeds of the input and output shafts are correlated as 1:2187, which is almost three times the speed of sound, but then, the red piece is no longer spinning. In fact, it is likely that the speed of the tip of the red detail was not close to the speed of sound, since a lot of losses are due to the friction of the gears.
