Looks like a dead empty area. Only a few....charter cat's?...... And has very very little to do with the "real" Cuba if you ask me. I loved traveling Cuba. The "real" Cuba. Staying with locals and eat in local places. A lot of the same pretty simple disches but not to expensive and good. To me it feels like holiday in Varadero will give you maybe a good and relaxed holiday if you like the style of accomodation. But if you want to experience Cuba for real you will be in the wrong spot there.

Another way of traveling in Varadero is the "orange colored road train". this is a carnival fun filled ride which can be enjoyed from downtown Varadero all the way out to the end of the peninsula and back and last year the cost was 100 pesos return $1.00 CAN If you are staying out of town you can catch it to come into town and return.

What is sad about this video is the view as they enter the eatery. How many people do you see with food at their table? At 3:15 notice how fast the camera pans so that you cant see the tables. And they never actually took video of people eating, because they weren't. Also, the stores are mostly empty. Many people walking around, but not actually shopping. You see a few people carrying a white bag, but they're all the same white plastic bag. Guess they all shopped at the same empty store. I dont know, seems like a video to make this Cuban mall look good. My Cuban co-worker has told me that they have nice things in Cuba, but only for the tourists, not it's people.
