There’s always something sad about a dismantled railway almost as if it’s waiting and hoping that trains will return one day. These rural lines were a vital part of the everyday life of the community in many areas. I remember when our line was closed in mid wales the enormous impact on the older children of our area leaving us with a 3.5 to4 mile each way cycle ride to high school . No joke in winter time.

Have been using candles since I was 5 or even younger. I was taught that candles never go close together, candles should be in safe candle holders. You place a candle in the candle holder on a flat surface away from everything. And you NEVER leave a candle unattended or on when you sleep. In your candle heater case, it would be so much safer if you put the pot with candles on a table. And make 2 heaters both with only 2 candles in it. We had 40 safe candles burning every Christmas Eve and that heated the room in a safe place.

Just seen your video which was very useful. We're just in the process of considering buying a Sheerline 740 with sliding roof. It looks to tick most of the boxes for a Broads cruiser. There's just the two of us but, with some thought, I'm sure we can make the space work OK. Any thoughts on this type of boat? Thanks in advance.

Perfect..just stay away from boats without rudders, like outboard and out drives...all good at sea but at 4 mph on the rivers you need a boat with a rudder.

To be fair to that old merc....its about 40 years old, and typical of a yank design....quite bullet proof but never quite cutting edge even when new. Being a 2 stroke certainly doesn't help. A modern 4 stroke equivalent would use 1/4 of the fuel. And likely to be Japanese manufactured irrespective of what brand is on the lid.

May I suggest the best solution is 2 smaller batteries. 1. You have more manageable weight to lift. 2. Your lift will be balanced when carrying them both. 3. You have one battery for the outward trip, knowing that you always then have one for the return trip.
