I like the outfit they used in that "High Spec" live because it gave them a more serious and more mature looks esp for Tomo Zo, that hairstyle makes her looks like a protagonist in a samurai manga

Saki is Saki, a Rock Goddess by nature. Senri (drums) is a freak of nature, somehow always able to play exactly what any individual song calls for. Never over playing, even though she is perfectly capable of the most complex of fills and time changes. She just nails everything she touches.

Ah, great -- she plays around with that "Misty" interval again, at 10-11 seconds. Uses it elsewhere -- on Rush Hour on Planet Nicorin, for one. Seems as though it's a favorite of hers.

I was pleasantly surprised that they played a Gacharic Spin track when checking out the show and it seemed like Senri also enjoyed playing it. Not to take anything away from Saki, Hana nor the bass player who I didn't know but clearly could hold her own during the whole event, but seeing Senri play stuff that wasn't jazz (I know she has done this before, but I mainly know her work in jazz) was what made me the most curious about the whole set as a pretty big Senri fan. All 4 of them did an excellent job though, I am super happy that they decided to make this available outside of Japan as a stream as well and them playing Tamashii was just one of the fun surprises during the set. It was 2 of my favourite things from Japanese music combined, Gacharic Spin and Senri.

It didn't surprise me that Senri could not only hold her own with this song but also totally enjoyed herself. Many great rock drummers of the past either started as jazz drummers, Mitch Mitchell (Jimi Hendrix Experience), Phil Collins (Genesis), or were heavily influenced by jazz drummers, John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Ginger Baker (Cream - Eric Clapton was the guitarist), Neil Peart (Rush) and Stewart Copeland (The Police) to name a few. Senri is an amazing drummer. Her fills in this song were so quick but also so smooth. I have also wondered about Yuri's background since GS has included a lot more jazz influences in their recent songs.

@@fedogma8407 Absolutely and she has also played in rock settings before, with Rie a.k.a. Suzaku for example and I am pretty sure she recorded with a Western Prog Rock band as well (never heard that one though), but it's just not something I am used to seeing that often, especially what was basically power metal for a lot of songs during the set. Btw, to add an other drummer to your list, I am pretty sure Bill Ward from Black Sabbath also started out as a jazz drummer or at least I can hear jazz influences next to the obvious blues influences. As far as Yuri goes, I know she came from different bands (Lagoon and HighChe's), but I never heard them. Both are mentioned as rock bands though. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if she has experience with jazz either. Everything since W is so much more technical, I always knew she was a good drummer, but she has honestly blown me away especially after seeing some of the drum focused shorts. I love that they seem to give her more of a spotlight nowadays because she seems more timid than a lot of her bandmates and it's easy to get lost between the huge amounts of stage presence of mainly Oreo and Angie, but you can count Hana in that group as well. And that combined with a band that is basically just soloing over each other at some points. It's hard to be overlooked in a band like that and she deserves to be noticed.

@@MaartenT To be honest I was a bit skeptical about Yuri when she replaced Hana since her groove is a lot different but to be honest, she is the perfect fit for the direction the band is taking. Like you, I have been blown away by Yuri. When it comes to GS, most of the praise seems to go to Koga and Hana for musicianship. I have always said that Tomo-zo is under-rated (and often a bit too low in the mix). The same can be said of Oreo's piano skills since she is also amazing and adds so much to the GS sound. Of course, when all the members of a band are this talented, it is easy to overlook someone. This is one thing I love about GS, they write and play for the song although everyone has a chance to shine depending on the song.
